GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE

  1. Any complaint or concern directed toward a coach or team is to be directed to the Age Level Directors at that level.
  1. The Age Level Director will handle the complaint if possible.
  1. The Age Level Director may discuss the complaint with the Player Development Committee.
  1. In some cases, the Age Level Director may decide to carry the complaint on to the coach and set up a conference with the parent, coach and Director.
  1. All complaints are to be recorded for and reviewed by the Player Development Committee (PDC). The PDC may choose to intervene if necessary.
  1. Any parent, relative, or concerned adult not satisfied with the Director’s, PDC, or Coaches decision, may be appealed in writing to the PDC.
  1. The Player Development Committee is determined to make sure that its coaches are not distracted from their coaching duties by complaints. Therefore, the above procedure must be followed. If it is not, the following consequences will be applied by the Player Development Committee and Cloquet Amateur Hockey Association Board of Directors.
  1. The first time a parent, relative or concerned adult approaches any coach directly with a complaint without following the PDC policy, the parent, relative or concerned adult and their player will be given a first warning of improper conduct and procedure. This adult and or hockey player will be considered on probation in the hockey program for the remainder of the hockey season.
  1. A parent, player, relative, or concerned adult who is on probation and approaches a coach directly a second time with complaints or unsportsmanlike conduct, without the following board policy, will be suspended from the hockey program for a period of two weeks.
  1. Any third offense of a Board policy regarding complaints toward a coach will result in the adult and/or player being removed from the program for the rest of the hockey season.
  1. All parents and guardians will be required to sign a copy of this policy as an indication that they have read and understand the above policy before their payer will be allowed to play in any CAHA sponsored activities.
