Antioch Christian Church, located in Wichita, Kansas, seeks a full-time Youth Minister to lead its ministry to youth and children. Antioch is a New Testament church that is committed to principles laid down in the Scriptures, to win people to faith in Jesus Christ and help them to grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ, accepting the inspired Word of God as their only rule of faith and practice. Attendance averages 140 people each Sunday. The Youth Minister serves full-time under the direct supervision of the Senior Minister and indirectly under the elders and congregation.

This position requires a motivated, self starting individual with demonstrated maturity in Christian faith and the ability and desire toconnect with, mentor and share Christ with youth and to build relationships with parents, to recruit, vet, train, encourage and lead volunteers and to plan and develop activitiesand programs. Willingness and ability to preach is a necessity and a college degree in youth ministry or related field is a plus.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated maturity in Christian faith
  • Ability and desire to share Christ with youth
  • Ability and desire to connect with and mentor youth
  • Ability to build relationships with parents
  • Ability to recruit, vet, train, and encourage volunteers
  • Leadership experience in an active youth ministry
  • Ability to obtain training in all aspects of child security
  • Ability to train volunteers in all aspects of child security
  • Ability and plan and take action without need for specific instructions
  • College degree in youth ministry or related field a plus
  • Willing to be a member of Antioch Christian Church

Responsibilities:

  • Connect with youth and help youth build relationships with Christ.
  • Be an example and witness to the youth of the church, encouraging them and training them to be faithful disciples of the Lord.
  • Lead the children and youth programs of the church.
  • Recruit, vet and train sponsors and workers needed to maintain an effective ministry.
  • Promote and coordinate children and youth ministry activities within the framework of the total church program.
  • Take responsibility for children's church, vacation Bible school, church camp, mission activities, and other activities that will spiritually develop those within the church.
  • Support and help guide parents in the proper training of youth.
  • Develop youth ministry goals and objectives and lead the achievement of goals.
  • Facilitate fundraising for youth ministry and manage the youth ministry budget.
  • Coordinate the youth and children Sunday school with the total church program.
  • Be a resource person for youth and children Sunday school teachers and classes.
  • Preach when the Senior Minister is absent, and as assigned by the Senior Minister.
  • Work with the Senior Minister and staff in performing church administrative duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Minister.
  • Report to the Elders and General Board at regularly scheduled meetings.
  • Confer with church leaders on all matters beneficial for implementing the Lord's work.
