2016 PINTO RULES

-  GENERAL

o  Smoking is prohibited at all fields

o  Negative comments and/or berating players,umpires,or coaches will not be tolerated

o  Player chatter and/or cheering for one’s own team is allowed. Chatter or chants directed at opposing team is not allowed

o  Rescheduling of games must be done through a VP. If a game is cancelled for any reason, notify a VP immediately

o  Field dimensions: 60ft bases, 38ft mound to home plate

▪  Home team will set up bases

▪  Visiting team will put bases away

o  Game length is 6 innings

▪  1hr 45 hour time limit, No New inning after time limit is reached.

▪  Managers will decide when games should be called due to darkness, weather conditions, etc.

o  Each team will supply 1 game ball for every game

o  NO Coaches in the field During the game

-  Defense

o  9 players on field

▪  All OutFielders must play in grass (even at Kolb & Sac)

o  All players must play 2 full innings in infield every game

▪  Catcher does count as playing infield position

-  Pitching

o  A pitcher may pitch a maximum of 2 consecutive innings in a game and a Maximum of 3 innings per week. (except in weeks with 3 Scheduled Games, Maximum of 4 innings per Week)

▪  Once pitcher is removed he cannot pitch again that game

o  Walks Rule

▪  There will be a maximum of 2 Walks per inning.

▪  When a player walks After the Second Walk in the inning the coach will come in and Throw a maximum of three pitches. The batter will either put the ball in play or be called out after the third pitch. If the last pitch is fouled off an additional pitch will thrown.

▪  Coaches should pitch from the pitchers mound. Preferably from one knee if possible.

o  When a batter is hit by a pitch, he will have the choice to take 1st base or continue to hit. If the batter decides to continue to hit, it will be against Coach pitch using same no walk rules.

o  Pitcher must be removed after the 3rd hit batter in the game.

-  Hitting

o  Continuous batting order including entire team

o  Keep same batting order for entire game

o  10 batters max per inning. If team has fewer than 10 players, the batting order does turn over to the top .

o  Team continues to hit until there is 3 outs or 10 batters.

o  No bunting

o  Beside the batter, the only player allowed inside fence is the on-deck batter, who must wear a helmet and be at least a base length away from home plate.

-  Baserunning

o  No steals

o  No leadoffs

o  No head first slides

o  No sliding into 1st base

o  Base runners can advance if ball is hit in any way to the outfield grass. The runner can keep running until the ball is thrown to the infield dirt and controlled by an infielder. If the infielder holds the ball the play is dead. If the runner is less than half way to the base he was trying to advance to, then he must go back to the base he came from. If the infielder attempts to make a play on a runner that was less than halfway, the runner can only be out. If he is safe at the base he was going to. He has to go back to the base he was coming from. Runners cannot advance on overthrows.

-  Safety

o  Any player batting in a game or practice must wear a helmet

o  On deck batter must wear helmet

o  Face masks on batting helmets are optional, parents discretion

o  All players not playing in field must sit on bench, unless practicing with a Coach

o  All players not batting or on deck must sit on bench, unless practicing with a Coach

o  Catchers must wear full catching gear during game.

▪  Protective cup

▪  Mask with helmet

▪  Chest protector

▪  Shin guards

o  Catchers warming up a pitcher between innings must wear a protective cup and helmet with mask

o  No metal spikes allowed

o  Any baserunner that removes helmet when ball is in play will be called out

o  Any batter that throws bat will be called out

o  No big barrel bats allowed, no bigger than 2 ¼ barrel

-  Schedule

o  Every team will play 15 regular season games

o  Weeks 1-3 (1st 5 games) no official score will be kept

▪  Coach will umpire, call balls/strikes for own pitcher

o  Starting in week 3 (last 10 games) score and standings will be kept. Both managers must report the score to the vp.(Dan Leahy)

o  League will assign official umpire

o  Every team will make the playoffs

o  Playoff seeding will be based on year end standings

▪  1st tie breaker will be head to head record

▪  2nd tie breaker total Runs Allowed of head to head games

▪  3rd tie breaker total Runs allowed of last 10 Games

▪  Tie breaker for more than 2 teams involved will be total runs allowed of last 10 games
