Shooting Star Programme

Current format:

3 x Under 11 Fun5z festival

3 x Under 13 events

3 x Under 15 events

2 x Under 17 events

Youth events delivered by sub committee –medals presented to winner and runner up for each event.

8 Glasgow clubs and 4 non affiliated clubs from out with the city involved in 2012/13 programme.

Costs - - £5 affiliation fee to the GNA at start of the season.

- £15 entry fee per team for U13, U15 and U17 events

- £15 entry fee per club for Fun5z festivals.

Proposed changes:

-Implement a fee for affiliated and non affiliated clubs to ensure that Glasgow is benefitting from non Glasgow clubs participating. The programme will be split into 2 blocks – clubs should commit to the full block. Set price per block to be confirmed. Clubs are still able to enter on an adhoc basis at the following costs: -

Affiliated clubs- £15 entry fee per team for U13, U15 and U17 events

- £15 entry fee per club for Fun5z festivals.

Non affiliated clubs- £18 entry fee per team for U13, U15 and U17 events

- £18 entry fee per club for Fun5z festivals.

‘Shooting Star programme’

To allow all clubs to compete and achieve success

The programme offers a points system to encourage clubs to be active in their own development of their club. To achieve success for the club, points will be rewarded based on participation, performance and club development.

Entry to a youth event (per team) / 2
Winning an event / 5
Second place in an event / 3
Increase in club membership / Up to 15
Delivering a local netball festival / 10
Delivering a local Skill zone / 10
Promotional visit to school / 8

At the end of the year, clubs will be awarded the following star awards based on the following: -

Star Mania / 60 points or more
Future Star / More than 40 points
Fun Star / More than 20 points

-The club with the highest number of points at the end of the year will win a £100 equipment voucher and the title of ‘Star Club of the Year’.

-The club in second place will win a £50 equipment voucher.

-‘Star club of the month’ to the club who have achieved most points in that month. Advertise through GNA website and social network sites.

Categories

  • For each entry into a youth event each team from the club will receive 2 point
  • Increasing club Membership

- increasing membership by 1 – 3 participants5 points

- increasing membership by 4 – 9 participants 10 points

- increasing membership by 10+ participants15 points

  • Record of membership at following points of season to monitor club numbers

-September, November, February and May

  • Delivery of festival / skill zone

-Liaise with Netball Development to confirm delivery date

-Club will deliver event on agreed date, coaching session, mini festival / tournament, promote junior club

-Netball Development will contact schools and confirm school attendance

  • Promotional visit to schools

-liaise with netball development to agree date

-Netball development will contact schools and organise flyer

-Club to attend school either ASC or school assembly.
