Your Personal Year

Numerology is an ancient art that studies the vibration, energy and law behind each number. It has long been used as a divination tool, but has many more practical applications. Numbers are the basis of our human existence. Science relies on them to define everything in our three dimensional world, from the concrete to the abstract.

While everything affecting our lives and decisions can be measured using numbers, this article focuses on your personal year – the vibration and energy that is around you now, since your last birthday. Your personal year changes with each birthday in cycles of nine. If you are in a personal year four now, upon your next birthday you will shift into a personal year five. If you are in a personal year nine now, at your next birthday you will shift into a personal year one. The latter part of this article will define and describe the energies embodied in each personal year number. These are suggestions and provide hints on how to handle your affairs through the year.

For example, let’s say you are on the verge of starting your own business, or a new project. You are eager to press forward, but feel blocked or feel as though ‘things’ are not falling into place. You want to know that the timing is right. You do the calculations to find you are in a personal year nine and your birthday is not for another six months. Nine represents the finishing of things. Nine is the final number in the cycle and its energy is completion. How this is interpreted is ultimately up to the individual. If I were being consulted, as a Professional Numerologist I would suggest that you delay the opening of the business, or the starting of the new project until after your birthday. In this way you could take advantage of the new energy of the year one you are shifting into. One is about new beginnings, creation and originality. Because the energy is emptying rather than filling, a person in the nine year can be impatient. I would suggest that the next six months be spent finishing up old business, projects and tying up loose ends. Clearing away as much clutter as possible (both mentally and physically) and making room for all the new coming in with the next birthday.

In a consultation the Professional Numerologist will also look at your personal chart to gather information. Your personal chart consists of three basic numbers calculated from your name. These numbers describe your personality and your deepest desires, how you express yourself and how others ‘see’ you. They provide insight into career paths and potentials based upon your talents and characteristics, which you may or may not be aware of. How you feel about and respond to each personal year depends upon how the energies are balanced in your chart. For example, missing numbers in your chart indicate challenges that beg to be met. If you are missing ones, personal year one may be more difficult. A preponderance of a certain number can also indicate a challenge looking to be adjusted and overcome. Too many nines may make personal year nine more difficult for you than for another person in the same personal year.

The information given here is an overview and does not provide an in-depth analysis. They are suggestions regarding the energy that is surrounding you and how you can utilize that energy, apply it to your life or take advantage of it. At the end of this article you will find my email address. I welcome any questions regarding numerology or numbers from the generic to the specific. Please put the word “Numerology” in the subject line.

How to calculate your Personal Year:

Begin by looking at the date of your last birthday. Write it down using the corresponding number for the month. If your birthday is March 24th, write it down as 3/24/2007. Now add each digit together. 3+2+4+2+0+0+7 = 18. Next, add these two digits together to get to a single digit- 1+8 = 9. If your date of birth is March 24th you are now in a personal year nine. At your next birthday you will move into a personal year one (2008). Let’s look at another one.

If your birthday is December 17, 2006, write it down as 12/17/2006. Now add each digit together. 1+2+1+7+2+0+0+6 = 19. Add these two digits together- 1+9 = 10 again to get to a single digit- 1+0 = 1. If your birthday is December 17th, you are in a personal year one at this time. You will shift into a personal year two at your next birthday, December 17, 2007.

This switching of vibration and energy is not like flicking on or off a light switch. It is a gradual shift occurring inside and outside of the individual. You may notice changes in your attitude, thoughts or mood, and if you are very sensitive you may feel changes in the energy around you several weeks before your birthday. The new vibration does not fully come in until several weeks after the birthday. As such, there is often an overlapping of the energies around the birthday. If this causes confusion or discomfort, be patient for the energy will settle down.

The essence of each number and applying it to your Personal Year:

1 ORIGINALITY

One is the beginning, the creator. It is fearless and it does not know failure because nothing has come before it. One is independent, confident, artistic and loves to lead.

Personal Year One. In a personal year one the individual is focused on the self. You may wish to develop a talent or promote yourself in some way. You may feel more artistic or creative than usual. You feel the need to focus fully and completely on your own interests, desires and needs. Some may feel lonely in a personal year one. You may feel challenged to stand on your own two feet. You are forced to do things independently, or challenged to do it in your own creative way. Some will embrace this energy and others may fight it. Personal year one is a great time to begin a new project, to start a new career, school or line of study. It is a time to persevere; not a time to be lazy or waitfor others to do things for you. You must take the ‘bull by the horns’ and rely upon your own strength and will. Trust your intuition and your instincts now, your own way of doing things. Being in a personal year one can be challenging for relationships, especially dependent ones, because the person in year one needs to be autonomous, and may often prefer solitude. If the partner understands that the reason for this need to be alone is to create and explore the self, and not a desire to pull away from the partner, and that it is temporary (one year),the partner may be able to give the space that is needed. Avoid being overly aggressive, bossy or domineering.

2 PARTNERSHIP

Two is cooperation, the peacemaker. It cares deeply and will put others before itself. Two is sensitive, emotional, wants balance, and can be needy or easily hurt.

Personal Year Two. In a personal year two the energy shifts to a focus on relationships, rather than the self. More specifically, it embodies a desire to balance and harmonize your personal relationships (how you relate) to others in your life. This will include partners, family members, co-workers, friends, strangers, and even pets. You may find yourself to be more sensitive than usual. You are more aware of your feelings and emotions. You may be more concerned with other people’s feelings and emotions. There may be days when you feel needy or feel that your needs are not being met. If you have a partner, that relationship may undergo challenges, finding balance. If you do not have a partner, you may be seeking one, having a need to connect on a deeper level. There may be a desire to share yourself; both physically and emotionally. You have the ability now to see other points of view. Avoid a tendency to see things in black and white or to only give yourself two options when facing a question ordilemma. People under the influence of the two vibration have a desire to keep the peace, to cooperate, and may find themselves apologizing when they are not sorry. There is also a desire for balance and equality and this may conflict with the need for peace. Avoid over sensitivity or extreme neediness. Work well with others and pay attention to the details.

3 CREATIVITY

Three is expressive, outgoing, and talented. It is charming and sociable, often the life of the party. Three is artistic and enthusiastic, but can be impulsive and scattered.

Personal Year Three. The vibration this year is of activity, sociability and creative expression. There is great potential for making new friends, some of which may be important contacts in the future. Opportunity for parties and socializing present themselves. Others seek you out and want to share in your energy. There is caution not to overextend yourself; emotionally or physically. Additionally there are cautions over scattering resources and money. For some, this can be a year where ‘lucky’ money is found, money you did not necessarily have to work for it. Personal Year three is a time for feeling optimistic, expressing happiness and joy. Responsibility takes a backseat for now, but should not be avoided completely. It is important this year to not only express yourself in creative ways, such as writing, singing, and acting, but to speak your mind. Express yourself clearly and precisely. Avoid tendencies toward criticism of others or gossiping. Opportunity for travel may present itself. You have a desire for growth and expansion now. Your appearance may be of more concern and you may change your hairstyle or dress style.

4 ORGANIZATION

Four loves form and order. Four develops a plan and then follows it. Four is practical, honest, and appreciates the value of hard work. Four may at times be too serious.

Personal Year Four. The energy here is stable and disciplined. If you scattered too much last year, this year you create a plan and follow through with action. This is the year for hard work and the money or rewards earned are directly related the effort expended, unlike the ‘lucky’ money gained in Personal Year three. This year is for building solid foundations, building up slowly, brick by brick. Resist the urge to cut corners or take short-cuts. This applies to anything you build, from a business to relationships to cooking dinner or planting a garden. Some people will embrace this energy and delight in its simplicity, while others will find it frustrating and resist it. The hands need to keep busy, but your mind is sharp too, so projects that combine your mind and manual dexterity will be especially rewarding. Physical needs and desires are heightened. Your body and health may be of more concern this year so you may start a new diet or start a new exercise program. Restoring order and getting organized is crucial for your happiness this year. Your need for security is emphasizedas well, so there may be a tendency to build walls around yourself and you may at some point begin to feel boxed in. Resist the desire to be too serious, stubborn or become overworked. Don’t forget to take time off to play.

Communication is vital this year. If you have a business it’s a great time to advertise. You have the ability now to sell ideas or promote yourself. If you don’t like any present situation, it is easier to make changes now. Be open to meeting new people and socializing. Allow yourself variety. You may find some new romantic interests. You have a strong desire for adventure, and a real need for freedom, but don’t allow these feelings to cause you to behave irresponsibly, impulsively or carelessly. Don’t take dangerous chances. There is also caution around overindulging in the senses: drugs, alcohol, sex, food, and gambling etc. This is the year of experience…expect the unexpected.
