Dear U.S. History Students,

This is how I would like your notebook set up and organized. Keeping an organized, complete notebook is worth 50% of your grade. The reason I ask that you keep this notebook is that getting in the habit of being organized will help you to be successful in life long after you have forgotten most of what we have studied in this class. Sincerely, Ms. Stam

Journals/ SSR will be graded at the time of the notebook check but will be counted as a separate grade. If you do not finish them during the first few minutes while I am taking attendance, they must be finished on your own time. Remember, if you are absent frequently, it will be difficult for you to obtain a decent journal and SSR grade.

Keep everything in your notebook organized chronologically (in the order in which we complete the assignments) with an assignment sheet in the front.

NOTEBOOKS THAT ARE UNORGANIZED, NOT PUT TOGETHER OR CONTAIN TAGGING OR OFFENSIVE MATERIAL WILL NOT BE GRADED.

What is one experience that you have been through that you don’t want your children to go through?

I don’t want my children to ever have their house robbed. One timee we came home and the door was open and all of our stuff was gone. It was very stressful. The police came and took a report and my mom was crying. We ended up moving very soon after that and I still reember that day. I don’t ever want my kids to experience that.

I would noever want my kids to get involced with drugs or alcohol. I got involved with drugs and it messed up my life. I didn’t take my classes seriously and failed most of 10th grade. I had to make up my classes and my parents were very disappointed in me. I had to go to a program to help me with my problems. It was hard to look at my parents because of what I had done. I want to move to a better area so hopefully my kids won’t get involved.
