Multnomah County, Portland and Gresham Housing and Community Development Needs Hearing
Your input matters. Help inform your city’s budget process and programs. Give your input on how Multnomah County, Portland and Gresham should invest between $11-$19 million dollars in federal housing resources. This annual hearing hosted by the Federal Funding Oversight Committee and the Portland Housing Bureau seeks your view about housing issues that matter to you and your neighborhood. Are you concerned about helping the homeless? Has your neighborhood experienced gentrification? Do you have access to housing you can afford near parks, quality schools, fresh food and other amenities that make a neighborhood great? By sharing your views at this public hearing, you help your governing bodies understand your housing and neighborhood needs. In turn this helps them draft budgets, and the Consolidated Annual Action Plan as required by Housing and Urban Development.
The City of Portland will also use your input to inform their budget process, especially in terms allocating Federal and General Fund dollars. The Portland Housing Advisory Commission (PHAC) is the Budget Advisory Committee for the Portland Housing Bureau. They are the body that listens to the community and forms budget recommendations.Thefinal Portland Housing Bureau budget will be reviewed by PHAC in January, and then referred to City Council for a decision by May.
The Consolidated Plan, now in its third year, names housing priorities and sets strategies and goals for the jurisdiction to meet housing and neighborhood goals. Before making any changes to the Consolidated Plan through the One-Year Action Plan, the jurisdictions will listen to your comments and views on issues affecting housing and community development. Additional hearings will be scheduled in the spring to review the priorities and draft action plans. Tells us what will keep your community strong.
