IMPORTANT INFORMATION

HOW WILL I BE GRADED?

Your grade for each marking period will consist of the following:

*2 tests

*Homework, usually 2-3 assignments per week randomly graded

*1-2 projects

*Your notebook will also be randomly collected and graded for organization.

*At least one quiz every week. There will also be pop quizzes.

Your marking period grade will be:

30% tests

35% projects

20% quizzes

15% homework, lab work, notebook

Your final grade will be:

•20% final exam

•20% marking period 1

•20% marking period 2

•20% marking period 3

•20% marking period 4

You will also be given a midterm in January, which will count as a test grade.

WHAT DO I DO IF I’M ABSENT?

*It’s your responsibility to complete missed homework and become familiar with the material you missed.

*Every time you are absent, look in the folder to find what you missed. You have two weeks to complete this. After that time, any incomplete assignments, including tests and quizzes will be a 0.

CAN I USE MY CELL PHONE?

Please do not use your cell phone in class unless I ask you. Please do not check the time, do not check your messages, do not accept a call, and do not have the ringer on. Your cell phone can be confiscated at any time, according to the school rules.

CAN I USE EARBUDS?

Please do not listen to music during class unless I decide it is time to do so. You may not have earbuds in your ears, even if they are not connected to a phone.

WHAT SUPPLIES SHOULD I BRING TO CLASS?

  1. pen or pencil – if you choose pencil, bring your own sharpener.
  2. agenda, planner or calendar
  3. binder – your loose-leaf binder should have four labeled sections:
  4. Homework
  5. Notes – paper goes here
  6. Labs
  7. Study Guides

WHAT HAPPENS IF I PLAGIARIZE OR CHEAT?

Plagiarizing on homework from the Internet or published work will result in a 0. Word-for-word answers that match another’s student’s work will

result in a 0. Cheating or copying during a test or quiz will result in a 0. Using a cell phone during a test or quiz will result in a 0.

DO YOU ACCEPT LATE WORK?

Your class has chosen one of two options:

  1. Late work is reduced by 50% of the points you earned. One day is considered late.
  2. Two days per marking period will be designated as “forgiveness days.” You will be allowed to hand in any missing assignments from the current marking period without penalty. The assignments must be handed in on that day, and can not be handed in any other day.

CAN I EAT OR DRINK IN CLASS?

Do not eat or drink in class on lab days. Do not chew gum in class.
