Leaving a Mark

v  How many seniors from your Freshman year do you remember anything about? What will you remember 5 years from now? Ten?

§  List things (positive and negative) people are remembered for in high school:

v  Have you ever considered your legacy – what mark, if any, will you leave on your school and people in your school?

Matthew 25:14-30 – The Parable of the Talents

·  BACKGROUND: This passage is talking about the return of Jesus. For now, all you need to know is that “no one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven” (Matt. 24:36) but we are always supposed to be ready. This parable illustrates who really knows God.

1.  Who are the main characters? Who do you think they represent?

2.  The master’s reply to the first two servants is ______! Does that surprise you?

3.  Do you feel like the master was too harsh on the third guy?

4.  How does this parable relate to you leaving a mark and making an impact on your school?

5.  Which servant are you going to be? Which one were you last year?

LIVING FOR CHRIST – THE KEY TO LEAVING A GOOD MARK

2 Corinthians 5:15
And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

·  In the most unselfish act of all time, Jesus conquered death that we might live!

Romans 14:7-8

For none of us lives to himself alone and none of us dies to himself alone. If we live, we live to the Lord. If we die, we die to the Lord.

·  How would it change your life to live every second for Christ?

PERSONAL APPLICATION:

-  Consider all this Campaigners this week, and decide what you want your legacy (mark) to be.

-  You should all be Steelers fans and be grateful you are in the Pittsburgh viewing area.
