Young Dairy Network Tasmania – Study Tour to Mt Gambier, South Australia

June 23rd, 24th, 25th & 26th

The YDN Tas is heading to South Australia! Supported by DairyTas, TIA and TasTAFE.

This is a great opportunity for a group of young farmers from Tasmania to visit some of the best farms and most progressive farms in the Mt Gambier region of South Australia.

The focus of the trip will be predominately around innovation, new idea and technology on dairy farms. In addition to visiting and hearing from successful young farmers, we will be visiting the largest farms in the Mt Gambier region, and some of the most innovative, including:

·  Donovans Dairy, owned by the chair of DairySA James Mann – one of the largest herds in South Australia with a 100 unit rotary

·  Travis Telford – large, family operated dairy, headed up by a progressive young farmer

·  Henningsen’s dairy – pasture based robotic dairy farm

The trip will leave on the morning of Tuesday 23rd of June, and return Friday the 26th of June. Cost for the trip is $500 per person, including flights, bus transport, and accommodation. You will also need to cover the cost of your own meals.

Successful applicants will then be notified by the 3rd June. Please note – applicants must be between 18 and 35 years of age inclusive, and need to be currently working on a dairy farm.
