The Enneagram

The Enneagram provides a framework for helping us better understand ourselves. In a non-judgmental way, we learn more about our overall behavior patterns, underlying motivations and attitudes, as well as our unique strengths and gifts. It is an excellent tool when considering a new career direction, offering insight and guidance that leads to choosing a career optimally suited for one’s personality. The Enneagram is used in many different disciplines, such as business and leadership development, education, healthcare and psychology. Some of the organizations that use the Enneagram are Kaiser Permanente, Genentech, Walt Disney Company, Apple, and the Federal Reserve Bank.

The first step is to take the test to identify your personality type. Once you find your type and start reading about the characteristics, you will have the sense that you are reading about yourself. Not everything will apply to you, and while it may be hard to see some of the less flattering qualities, each type has abundant strengths and gifts. Although we are only one out of the nine types, we possess qualities from each of the other 8 types.
