You Just Inherited A Small Resort In A Beachside Town!
You now get to restart the resort and get all the advertising and needed documents ready for the new ownership—you! The resort has been shut down since the owner passed away, so this gives you time to get everything together that you need to be successful when it reopens. Your resort may be located on any beach in any location in the world. Since you are a small place, you need to be really creative to earn your money!
You will be using Microsoft Word and the internet to complete this project. You will need to pick a name, logo and color scheme that will set the mood and tone about your property. You will use this theme throughout all your documents and forms.
Resort History:
The resort was opened in 1993 and has 12 guest rooms. It was built to last so the building only has minor needs. It sits about 500 feet from the beach and you own ½ mile of beach front property. The neighbors have fences on each side of your resort making it very private. You have a few palm trees around the sandy outdoor areas of the buildings. Rooms had been renting for $245 per night before the resort closed. The cash balance for your business is $100,000, with no bills owed.
The resort offers several activities besides the beach. Included with the property are:
· a working restaurant
· a small gift shop
· a small building that used to be a riding stable
· a medium-sized building for spa services
· a boat to carry passengers fishing and snorkeling
· an area with 6 surfboards for lessons
· a large pool
· a 12 passenger van
As the new owner, you get to decide what that small building (old riding stable) can be used for now. After looking over the records you realize that you have ten regular guests and you need to build up your customers or you will not be able to keep the resort open. The resort had 15 employees before it closed and those people would like to keep their jobs if possible.
You will design various documents and advertising materials for use when the resort reopens. These are to be original designs that match your resort. Some of the documents you will create or design are:
