Take the Dip Contest Rules & Regulations

1)ENTRY PERIOD: The Contest begins at 10am on September 10, 2016 and ends at 8am on October 8, 2016.

2)ELIGIBILITY: You must be nineteen (19) years or older to enter this contest, or to receive a prize on behalf of a minor.

3)HOW TO ENTER & GUIDELINES: There are 3 categories of entry into the ‘Take the Dip’ Contest. Category 1 is the ‘General Public’ contest,category 2 is the ‘School Class’ contest, andcategory 3 is the ‘Community Group’ contest.

For category 1 entry into the contest, participants must return the used dip kit and a completed postcard to a participating City facility by 8am on October 8, 2016. If the completed postcards are mailed via Canada post they must be post marked no later than October 8, 2016. Late entries will not be accepted.

For category 2 and 3 entries into the contest, participants must submit via email to or a completed version of the Action Project Submission Form by 8am on October 8, 2016. Late entries will not be accepted.

4)INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY: Entrants, upon submission of their entry to the Contest, hereby irrevocably grant to the City of Surrey, the non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free, no-cost license and right to use the entry submitted as part of the Contest, and all images, in any medium including streaming media, film, television, print, interactive devices, mobile media, Internet and on-line systems, and digital billboards. The City of Surrey will have the right to use the entries submitted as part of the Contest in any merchandising, advertising, marketing, or promotion. Entrants agree that the City of Surrey shall have the sole discretion in determining the extent and manner of use of entries and are not obligated to use any entry. All entries that are posted on the City of Surrey’s website and related social media may be available to be viewed by anyone with access to the Internet

5)WINNERS AND ODDS: There will be one (1) winner selected randomly per category. The odds of winning depends upon the number of eligible entries submitted.

The category 1 winner will receive a Vancouver Aquarium Prize Pack which includes the value on a gift card for 2 adult day admissions, 2 child day admissions and the value of a Beluga Animal Encounter for 1 adult and 1 child (total prize pack value of $328).

The category 2 winner will receive a School Class visit to the Vancouver Aquarium. This prize pack is being donated by the Vancouver Aquarium and will comprise of a grade specific school program. The prize value will depend on the number of participants as indicated on the registration form of the action project group that wins.

The category 3 winner will receive a group visit to the Vancouver Aquarium which includes the value on a gift card for day admissions for the number of participants outlined on the action project registration form. The prize value will depend on the number of participants as indicated on the registration form of the action project group that wins.

6) SELECTIONS OF WINNER: Winners will be contacted on Thursday, October 13, 2016via email only. Once contacted, the winner has 24 hours to respond before a second winner is drawn. Decisions as to the administration of the Contest, interpretation of the Official Rules, and the selection of a winner will be final.

6) TERMS AND CONDITIONS: By participating, an entrant agrees to a) abide by the Official Rules and the decisions of the City of Surrey, which shall be final in all respects; b) release, discharge and hold harmless the City of Surrey from all liability, claims or damages, arising out of their participation in the Contest and the acceptance, use or misuse of a prize. The City of Surrey reserves the right to cancel or suspend this Contest, and cancel or refuse any entry or any individual winning the Contest.

8) PRIVACY: The City of Surrey adheres to both federal and provincial privacy legislation. Any personal information collected during this contest will not be shared with third parties.
