Yesterday, students brought home their report card.

Students brought home graded work yesterday. Please discuss the grades with your child, sign the communication log, and return the graded work to school. Below is a list of graded assignments that were sent home.

Mount Vernon Field Trip

Today students are bringing home their permission slip for our upcoming field trip to Mount Vernon on May 20th. The cost of the field trip is $33.

We are in desperate need for boxes of tissues! If you have any extra boxes at home that you can spare, it would be greatly appreciated!

Science Fair:

Today students are bringing home the information packet about the Science Fair. Please review it with your child. Below are important dates. Miss Higgins's Science Fair Packet

  • 5/6/14 All Investigations are completed at home and results and data are brought to school
  • 5/6/14 – 5/13/14 Students will have time to complete their display boards and practice presentations in school
  • 5/14/14 2nd and 3rd grade share their projects with the school
  • 5/15/14 4th and 5th grade share their projects with the school

In Reading, students read "The Tortoise and the Hare" and answered questions about the text.

Students went to P.E. today.

In Math, students represented and solved two-step word problems.

In Social Studies, students brainstormed what they would do if they had 30 minutes of free time. Students used their top two choices to identify the pros and cons of each. Students used these to make their decision. We discussed the opportunity cost is the option they did not choose.

In Math, students multiplied 1-digit numbers by multiples of 10. They compared the products of multiplication problems that involve multiplying a 1-digit number by a multiple of 10 by using their basic facts.
