Modules:
Lent to Easter
Students will examine the events of the first Easter Sunday, the key symbols and rituals used by the Catholic community to celebrate Jesus risen and alive.
Bible: Stories of Jesus and People in the New Testament
Students will further develop their understanding of the Bible through an early exploration of the New Testament. / English
Reading & Viewing: To assist with reading development, students participate insmall groupguided reading sessions and shared reading sessions with their teacher each week. They complete targeted reading activities daily.
Writing & Representing:Students focus weekly on targeted writing skills such as grammar and punctuation and practice their writing each day. They have weekly handwriting lessons. Students have a weekly phonics focus to assist with their spelling development.
Speaking & Listening: This term the focus for students is active listening, contributing ideas to class discussions and listening for rhythmic, sound and word patterns in poems, chants, rhymes and songs.
Library lessons with Mrs Neilson take place each Wednesday. / Mathematics

Topic: Present and Past Family Life
Students study present and past family life within the context of the students' own world. They learn about similarities and differences in family life by comparing the present with the past.
Students begin to explore the links, and the changes that occur, over time and are introduced to the use of historical sources.
This term we will go on an excursion to Kenley Park Museum to investigate how families in the past lived their lives.

Creative Arts
Visual Arts Unit:Magic Beach
In this unit students use drawing, painting, collage and construction to create artworks related to Magic Beach.
Drama Unit:Magic Beach
In this unit students explore the picture book, Magic Beach, through improvisation, movement and reader’s theatre.
Music:Mr Meagher teaches music lessons each Friday. / Science & Technology
Unit:Push-Pull; Physical Sciences
The unit provides the opportunity for students to explore pushes and pulls. Through investigations, students observe and gather evidence about how these forces act in air and water, and on the ground. Students identify the effect of the pull of gravity and learn that both air and water can’push’.
/ Personal Development/Health and Physical Education
Unit: Street Sense
The students will be learning about their responsibility to make informed choices about personal safety.

Homework consists of:
1. Daily home reading - readers are sent home each Monday.
2. One weekly unit of work from My Sounds Scrapbook ( Phonics focus)
3. Term Mathematic challenges
Please record daily home reading in the Home Reading diary.
Homework will be sent home each Wednesdayand is due back at school on the following Wednesday.
