Yamaha announces Factory Ride Award, contingency for 2018 Flat Track Canada national series

May 17, 2018 (Toronto, ON) – Yamaha Motor Canada has announced that its popular bLU cRU Factory Ride Award will be offered in the Flat Track Canada national racing series in 2018. This marks the first year the popular program will be made available to racers outside the motocross discipline.

In addition, Yamaha is posting over $14,000 in bLU cRU contingency rewards in the Expert and Intermediate classes.

“With the continued growth of flat track racing in Canada and the high number of amateur racers in the organization, the fit was right to introduce our bLU cRU Factory Ride Award,” said Graeme Jones, marketing coordinator at Yamaha Motor Canada. “The YZ series is becoming more successful on dirt ovals, and I’m excited to see what can be done with the Power Tuner app on the new YZ450F. Tuning your mapping to track conditions on your smartphone is something that’s never been available to flat track racers before.”

bLU cRU FACTORY RIDE AWARD

Designed to support and encourage young, amateur Yamaha racers as they make their way up the racing ranks, the bLU cRU Factory Ride Award will grant the top-finishing Yamaha racer in the Novice DTX class complimentary use of a YZ series motorcycle for the 2019 racing season. The rider will also receive a $2,500 parts credit and a custom bLU cRU graphics kit to reinforce that real “factory” feel.

Yamaha bLU cRU Factory Ride Award eligibility requirements:

  1. Rider must be of Canadian citizenship and in good standing with the Flat Track Canada series.
  2. Rider must be 25 years of age or younger as of October 1, 2018.
  3. Rider must have competed for the entire season on a Yamaha YZ motorcycle. Riders competing on another brand at any time during official Flat Track Canada national event competition will be ineligible.
  4. Motorcycle must be a Canadian-purchased unit.
