XILUO INTERNATIONAL RESIDENCE PROJECT
Program Description:
“XILUO INTERNATIONAL RESIDENCE PROJECT“ want to recall the Xiluo Old Street transformation process and evoke the people to Xiluo STREET human environment and Xiluo overall artistic environment and other issues of importance. RESIDENCE PROJECT is supposed tomake the town rich in art and culture, and create a new base of artistic talent cultivation.
Xiluo cultural/historical heritage will inspire the artists in their process of creation. Art as a bridge, will be the link between men, nature and the old community; art and culture will flourish towards the township, and we hope that through the power of art and the help of the local community, we can create a new Xiluo’s artistic environment. The artworks will reflect the change of the river as well as the Old Street’s golden age, decay and rebirth.
We encourage the artist to invite local school teachers, students and residents to participate in the creation, and together complete the work. We hope that during the creative process and the exhibition, the art will improve Xiluo’s environment and connect itself with education.
Artists can use Xiluo’s materials; they can find natural material near the river and historical and cultural materials in the old street houses.
We hope Xiluo can renovate its image and become a contemporary art town.
During the stay, we will arrange tours to the surrounding areas to introduce the environment; it will be also possible to learn how to use traditional puppets or join martial arts classes. A bicycle will be given to everyone as a means of transport, which will allow artist to learn more about the Xiluo’s culture and history. We hope these experiences will help the artists to create their concepts. The exhibition and the creation process will be recorded and photographed, and the results will be used in the future.
The exhibition will take place in the Old Street (mainly in 72 Art Gallery building) and also in the entire historical district. Local residents will be invited to participate, creating a historical moment; People will have the opportunity to visit Xiluo and experience a different kind of small-town charm.

Conditions of Applying
1.To apply for this project we need you to fill in the Application form and send it back to us on the email address together with portfolio of your work.
2.If you are successfully accepted to the project we guarantee a pocket money of 15.000 NTD (please note the tax charges are included -20%) per month and accommodation in the building nearby. We will also provide you with place where you can display your work.
3.Once you arrive to Xiluo we would like you to meet and interact with the local people to understand more our culture, and also we would like you to introduce yourself and your work to the residents of Xiluo by holding your own exhibition.
4.As a part of the project, we would like you to visit the local school in order teach the kids about art and also your work.
5.Before the end of the project, we expect you to hold your own exhibition with Xiluo’s culture theme, based on your experience with the local people and environment.
6.Louyoung foundation will organize all necessary details and will prepare everything for your stay. The artists will be responsible for maintenance and updating of 72ART Facebook page.
Artist in Residence
Date：1st Aug. – 31st Oct.
(During this period, Artists will be allowed to take short trip, But it’s mandatory to stay in Xiluo at least 5 days per week (Saturday, Sunday and holidays included). After 31st Oct., you can also stay if you need, but please book into Louyoung foundation before your stay.)
