COMMUNICATION FROM TURKEY
The attached communication relating to the results of the High-Level Meeting for Least-Developed Countries has been received from the Delegation of Turkey. It is being circulated for the information of delegations.

During the High-Level Meeting on Integrated Initiatives for Least-Developed Countries' Trade Development which was held in Geneva on 27-28 October 1997, Turkey had announced her intention to put into effect additional preferential market access measures for the benefit of Least-Developed Countries.
In line with that statement, Turkey has set out a list of products subject to preferential tariff rates for the Least-Developed Countries. This list was promulgated in the Official Gazette dated 9 January 1998, numbered 23225 and was appended to the Import Regime of Turkey. Effective as of 1 January 1998, the list contains some 250 products on 12 digit basis and displays unilateral preferential tariff rates to be applied to these products originating from Least-Developed Countries.
