Installation Guide
Note: The drive with the installation files will be referred to as drive X. Please substitute this drive letter with the appropriate CD or network drive letter. If the required files were downloaded from a website and placed into a temporary installation directory, substitute this drive letter for the temporary installation directory.
Note: You cannot use ghosting or disk imaging to install this software. You must install the software on each machine separately.
Step 1. Install WSAD
1. If you have not already done so, log on to Windows as wasadmin (password wasadmin).
2. Create a directory called X:\WSADV5.
3. Insert the CD labeled WSAD V5 DISK1.
4. Click on each executable file and extract them to the directory WSADV5 which you have already created.
5. Insert the CD labeled WSAD V5 DISK2.
6. Click on each executable file and extract them to the directory WSADV5 which you have already created.
7. When you have extracted each executable on both CD’s go into the WSADV5 directory and run the setup.
8. From the WebSphere Studio Installation Launcher, select Install IBM WebSphere Studio Application Developer. This launches the InstallShield wizard for installing WSAD.
9. From the InstallShield Wizard, press Next.
10. Select I accept the terms in the license agreement and press Next.
11. Change the default folder to C:\WSAD and press Next.
12. Accept the default selections for program features to install and press Next.
13. At Ready to Install the Program, press Install.
14. Monitor the progress of the installation until it has completed.
15. When the InstallShield wizard has completed, press Finish.
16. Back in the WebSphere Studio Installation Launcher, press Exit.
Step 2. Verify the installation.
1. From the Windows Start menu, choose Programs > IBM WebSphere Studio > Application Developer. (Choose the program, not the folder.)
2. At the WebSphere Studio workspace dialog, accept the default values to create a WSAD workspace, then press OK.
3. When WSAD starts, you should see a welcome page in the default perspective (called “J2EE”) that looks like this.
4. You have successfully installed WSAD 5.0. Choose File > Exit to exit.
