SUSANNA H. KREY

PRESIDENT
SISTERS OF CHARITY FOUNDATION OF CLEVELAND

Susanna H. Krey is a senior vice president at the Sisters of Charity Health System headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. Nationally recognized for high quality care, innovative mission effectiveness and successful collaborations, the Sisters of Charity Health System is the parent corporation of more than 12 organizations responding to community needs in Canton and Cleveland, Ohio, and Columbia, South Carolina. The system includes two Catholic hospitals, two assisted living and skilled nursing facilities, three grantmaking foundations addressing root causes of poverty, and six community outreach organizations.

In her SVP role, Susanna provides leadership for hospital and health system administration in the areas of corporate communications and public relations, strategic planning and alliances, and government affairs, as well as administrative oversight of all grantmaking and outreach organizations in the community. Throughout 30 years of service, Susanna has helped to advance the hospitals’ robust missions to the individuals, families and communities they serve. This includes the hospitals’ work in: serving unmet community health needs; educating health professionals to advance behavioral health care, health literacy and other capacities; and advancing community-building and outreach to underserved populations. Susanna also works in leadership to share the impact of community benefit and positive stories that capture the spirit of true care.

Also, within her SVP role, she was instrumental in the development of the three Sisters of Charity grantmaking foundations in Cleveland, Canton and South Carolina in 1996. These foundations carry out the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine’s 165-year commitment to improving the lives of the poor and underserved. Today, Susanna is actively involved through governance at each of these three organizations, especially at the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland, where she is president. For two decades, the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland has taken action to advance its founding sisters’ commitment to improving the lives of the poor and underserved. This mission is accomplished through targeted and strategic foundation investments to end homelessness, to address health and education disparities in Cleveland’s Central neighborhood, and to sustain critical ministries of Catholic women religious. Susanna has been serving as this foundation’s president since January 2004, concurrent with her Sisters of Charity Health System senior leadership role.
