WRITING ASSIGNMENT: JUNIOR’S FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL
In Chapter 8, “How to Fight Monsters”, Junior transfers to Reardan School.
Write a diary entry from Junior’s perspective (first person) where he explains his thoughts and feelings about what happened throughout this first week of school. Junior should be reminiscing about this emotional week, and should therefore refer to events that happened, and how he felt about this important change in his life.
This entry should:
1. Be written in first person (using “I”)
2. Explain the emotions Junior experienced
3. Be written in past tense (because Junior is reflecting on what happened)
4. Refer to events that happened in the book (look over pages 54-61)
5. Be realistic. Keep in mind Junior’s voice, and what he would likely say.
6. Be approximately one page in length.
7. Be edited for spelling and mechanical errors (submit your edited rough draft).
This piece of writing will be evaluated for your production competency (C3)
