Job Description for a Clinical Data System Administrator

TITLE OF POST: / CLINICAL DATA SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR
SALARY : / £7.20 per hour

ACCOUNTABLE TO: / Practice Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

To accurately perform data management duties

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

To work closely with the entire Practice Team as applicable for each area of responsibility


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

n  Adhere to requirements of Data Content SOP

n  Adhere to requirements of Coding SOP

n  Adhere to requirements of Prescribing SOP, where appropriate

n  To seek advice when any uncertainty arises regarding coding, etc

n  Attend team meetings

n  Undertake GP2GP administration

n  Complete self-administered item return to PPA

n  Report incorrect data entry to line manager to identify training needs within the Practice Team

n  To attend relevant training courses as agreed with the Practice Management Team

n  Training summarising skills to other members of staff

n  Help develop robust data to fulfil the requirements of NHS West Sussex

n  On occasion, may be asked to fulfil other duties as agreed with the Management Team

n  Telephone patients where required in line with ongoing campaigns or to clarify queries, etc

n  Respond promptly to PNs

n  Provide cover for medical reports work as necessary

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

n  An understanding of medical terminology

n  An understanding of read codes and their applications

n  Knowledge of Caldicott and Data Protection

n  Excellent keyboard and general IT skills

n  Accuracy

n  Methodical approach

n  Knowledge of the EMIS clinical system

FUTURE DEVELOPMENT/TRAINING:

n  Advanced Read Code training

n  Advanced medical terminology

n  Ongoing clinical system training (EMIS)
