January 2013:

File Growth-The US file maintained a steady state for new, emerging and micro business growth. As expected, this month’s new file deletions outpaced the additions, changing the file size from 28.90M to 28.7M US business entities. This represents the net impact of 147,223 additions and 279,896 deletions. We expect the file to continue to decline to around 28M as it reflects the slow economic conditions in 2012. This demonstrates the true dynamics of the D&B database as business entities move in and out of the US file.

Super 7 Growth – Super7 completeness coverage remains constant for the March DMI file at 57.24%. That is 16.46M active records that contain all Super7 elements. We expect Super7 coverage to remain constant as businesses continue to flow in and out of the marketing file. Some degree of growth will continue in 2013 due to additions of Phone, SIC, CEO, Sales, and Employees figures.

Inactive Businesses –For March 2013, our Dynamic Maintenance process (a process that automatically isolates inactive businesses for further downstream actions) and ad-hoc evaluations resulted in the removal of 550K inactive records from our marketing file.

Average Age of DMI File - Through our Intelligence Engine Data Maintenance process, verification of business identity and operations is much more comprehensive – and much more frequent.

·  94.1% of the active database has been verified within the past 12 months – 82.6% of the active database has been verified within the past 6 months. The average age of our active file is 3.4 months.
