  • Be Respectful
  • Be Prepared
  • Do Work
  • Participate

Important Policies

Uniforms – All cadets are to comply with the DAPSS uniform policy at all times. Uniform infractions will be handled in accordance with the Honor Code.

Passes – Cadets will not be given a pass in the first or last ten minutes of class. Cadets are only given the opportunity to leave the classroom for personal reasons three (3) times per marking period. Personal reasons include the bathroom and the nurse (emergencies excluded). You will not be issued a pass to go to your locker.

Grading and Attendance – This course follows the DAPSS grading policy*. Parents/Guardians will be notified in the event that a cadet is in danger of failing, or is failing the course. It is the responsibility of the cadet to get the missed work from their absence. A danger of failing notice will be issued when a cadet reaches 9 absences. Cadets reaching 18 or more absences be classified under No-Credit Status.

* DAPSS now utilizes a 10-point scale:

90-100 A

80-89 B

70-79 C

60-69 D

00-59 F

Late Work and Due Dates – Late work is accepted at the discretion of the instructor. Typically, cadets will be given 1-3 extra days to complete and submit late work for full credit. Work may be accepted later for reduced credit. Unless specifically stated, all Essays will be due by 11:59 PM on the assigned submission date.

The ReDo Policy* – Cadets are allowed to revise and resubmit any graded essay one time. They are still eligible to earn full credit for revisions. A cadet must take the initiative and ask to complete the revision. A due date will be established for resubmitting the work. Cadets keep the highest earned grade.

*Because submission through SafeAssign is final, it is paramount that cadets make all necessary revisions before their final submission. You are being held to a higher standard and your work should match that standard. You will not be able to resubmit the required essays for a higher grade.

Standards for Work Submitted

  • ALL ESSAYS FOR THE DUAL ENROLLMENT COURSE MUST BE SUBMITTED THROUGH SAFEASSIGN AND A HARD COPY MUST BE TURNED IN TO THE INSTRUCTOR
  • All work must be labeled with the cadet’s full name, the date, block, and the title of the assignment in the upper, right-hand corner of the paper. If the assignment is longer than a single page, it is recommended that the cadet write their name on each subsequent page as well.
  • All formal papers must be typed. Papers will be formatted using APA Style. Cadets may submit an electronic copy via e-mail or on a flash drive the day an assignment is due. The following is the desired format for all typed papers:
  • 12 point Times New Roman (or Calibri) font
  • Black ink, or dark color if printer is out of black ink
  • 1-inch margins on all sides and 1.5 spacing (default)
  • Full name, date, block, and assignment title in the header
  • Any work received without a name will not be graded.
  • A cadet’s work must be his/her own, original work. Cheating, or academic plagiarism (presenting someone else’s work or material copied from the internet or another source without giving credit in the body of the text to the original source) is punishable per the Code of Conduct as an immediate and uncorrectable zero. Parent/Guardian contact will also be made.
