UNIVERSAL APPLICATION SCHOLARSHIPS

Spring, 2017

Universal Application based scholarships are listed below with all information on deadlines, criteria, and addresses where applications should be sent.

All universal scholarship applications are to be postmarked

no later than Friday, April 7, 2017.

Students receiving any local universal scholarships will be given instructions by the scholarship committee on how to verify enrollment to the college/university they plan to attend and procedure on how to collect scholarship monies.

Students should make plans financially that all local universal scholarships earned will be granted and monies could arrive at their college/university at the beginning of Second Semester.

Requirements:

1 - Must pursue a vocation in the field of nursing

2 - Must submit a paragraph discussing reasons for selecting the nursing field

3 - Scholarship must be used the Fall semester after graduation from WHS

4-H COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIP

Requirements:

1 - Must be a current member of Washakie County 4-H

2 - Must participate in the Washakie County Fair the summer following graduation

3 – Must attach a cumulative 4-H Portfolio with copies of sections.

PORTFOLIO Requirements

1 – Projects – This section should be cumulative and should include a complete list of each year you were involved in 4-H and corresponding projects taken that year. Do not copy all project records.

2 – Awards & Recognition – Copy all of this section which is cumulative and includes a complete list of each year in 4-H and the awards and recognition received.

3 – Leadership – Copy all of this section which is cumulative and should include a complete list of each year in 4-H and leadership responsibilities.

4 – Community Service - Copy all of this section which is cumulative and should include a complete list of each year in 4-H and the community service projects completed.

5 – Participation and Non 4-H Experiences - Copy all of this section which is cumulative and should include a complete list of each year in 4-H as well as any non 4-H activities you would like to include.

6 – 4-H Story & Section 7 – Photos and Media – These sections will not be used in the evaluation for this scholarship. Please remove these materials before submitting your scholarship application.

IMPORTANT NOTE: To best facilitate the scholarship process, your final scholarship application (in its entirety) should fit in a single, three-ring binder no greater than one (1) inch thick.

* In the event the recipient of this scholarship leave a medical program, the entire amount of the scholarship must be repaid to the Washakie Medical Center Auxiliary.

NATHAN WILLE SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is presented annually by the WHS Student Council to honor the memory of Nathan Wille. Nathan was a member of the WHS Class of 2002 and was killed in an automobile accident on May 28, 2002, just nine days after his graduation. Although he might not have been a ‘high profile’ student, he accomplished much in school, church and in our community. His life was a positive contribution to the world in which he lived. In his quiet and unassuming way, Nathan was an exemplary role model for his classmates, his friends, and anyone who knew him.

Requirements:

1 – Must write an essay which addressed the following question:

“What makes a person a role model who will make a difference and what have I done and what will I do to become that person?”

* The essay should be a maximum length of four pages; using standard margins and fonts.

* The use of proper grammar, form and punctuation will be a consideration in the evaluation of the essay.

* Each essay will be read and evaluated by at least three teachers chosen at random.

WORLAND EDUCATION ASSOCIATION (WEA) SCHOLARSHIP

Requirements:

1 – Must submit a one page essay that discusses why you want to become an educator. The essay should address what subject area you are interested in teaching and why you think that particular subject matter is important to the field of education. The essay should address what age level you would like to teach. It may also address who may have inspired you to go into the field of education and what qualities you have that will allow you to become a good educator.

2 – Must submit one (1) letter of recommendation from a person in your community that is able to discuss what would make you a good candidate for an educational scholarship.
