Boys and girls, I am Miss Tong. I went to the ScienceMuseum on 13th November. I found some information about world records held by different animals: birds, sea animals and land animals. Let me tell you more.
I saw pictures of different birds, such as a penguin, a peacock and an ostrich. The penguin has pretty feathers. Its feathers are black and white. The Asian peacock has prettier feathers and is more beautiful than the penguin. Its feathers are shiny and it has the most beautiful tail of all the birds. The peacock can’t run very fast. It can only run 15 miles per hour. African ostriches are the biggest and the fastest birds on land. They can run up to 50 miles per hour.
I also saw some pictures of sea animals, like the crocodile, blue whale and frog. The crocodile is the strongest animal in the sea. It has a long tail. It can be about 1700kg in weight. Blue whales are the largest animals on earth. They come from America. The blue whale can grow up to 30 metres in length and 8700kg in weight. The frog is the smallest. It is only around 7kg in weight.
The largest land animal is the elephant. Elephants are often born in Africa. They are the heaviest and second tallest land animals. They are about 7000kg in weight. They like eating grass. Giraffes, which can grow to a height of 550 metres, are the tallest land animals. They have a long neck of about 200 centimetres, and weigh about 2000kg. They also like eating grass. American lions are the ‘king’ of the animal kingdom. They are smaller than the elephant and weigh about 400 kg. Lions like eating meat.
