ALBASIA WOOD

The albasia (latin name: albizzia falcata) used in our production comes from plantations in Jawa Island, Indonesia. Albasia is never harvested from Indonesia’s natural forests.

Albasia wood is very light-weight with specific weight of about 0.26-0.3 after kiln drying. The statistical kiln-dry (8-12% moisture) strength at the limit of breaking is 526 kg/cm2 and the modulus of elasticity (x 1000 kg/cm2) is 44.5.

Working performance wise, Albasia is almost the same as a western red cedar.

The typical color is light yellow-red, generally lighter than most pine species.

Albasia wood products are generally sought after for the high strength to weight ratio, affordable price and its light-weight reduces transport costs and increases output in manufacturing processes (when incorporated in more value added products).

The wood is delivered as logs (which are further processed in sawmill) generally within 4 days of harvest. The raw material is then dried in boiler supplied steam kiln dries. The moisture content is reduced from about 60-70% green to 6% dry within 5-7 days and drying schedules. The wood and wood products will reach a 10-12% EMC (equilibrium moisture content) in Indonesia.

Each product undergoes a specific set of processing steps; however we use very modern and precise woodworking equipment from around the world. We have a full technical staff of 25 employees that insure we run in the optimal manner.

We sharpen all saw blades and cutters each shift or each day depending on the machine. This ensures consistent tolerances and precise end dimensions. A few examples of the type of equipment we use are: cross-cuts; jumping saws; double planers; gang-rip saws; single rip saws; finger joint shapers (if a FJ product), molders, sizers & double sizers, sanders, many types of presses and composers (for the lumber core).

Each of production lines works 2-3 shifts (up to 21 hours) each day, six days a week. The number of shifts depends on the product. Once again, in two facilities we have about 2000 employees.

All of the finger joint and solid products (including the door core) all use PVAC white glue. This glue has JAS International Certification. Whereas the lumber core products will use Urea glue.

All products undergo a detailed inspection in quality control department before they are exported.
