Information Technology

I am constantly keeping up-to-date with the newest standards and technologies in the field of IT by taking courses (see education), self-study and practice in areas such as programming (Java, JavaScript, C++ etc.) and Website Design. Since IT is my main working field as a freelance translator I am also constantly learning about new technologies simply by working on the projects of my clients.

Engineering & Training

I have worked two years (June 2005 to April 2007) as an International Service Manager for Access BDD - a Division of ThyssenKrupp Access Ltd where I gained practical engineering experience. This position included the following responsibilities:

  • Technical support and troubleshooting across the product portfolio via telephone and on-site
  • Translation from English to German and creation of technical documents in both languages
  • Identification, implementation and review of training needs among resellers
  • Organisation and provision of technical training seminars

Qualifications

Technical Translation studies at Hildesheim University, Germany (Graduate Diploma in International Technical Communications)

These studies include the following subjects:

I am frequently taking courses related to my mainspecialty field to keep up to date and deepen my knowledge and understanding to provide you with the best of services.

Equipment

I always strive to be fully up to date on all technologies that allow a more efficient and consistent approach to translation work. Therefore, I am always working with the newest version of SDL Trados. Currently, this is SDL Trados Studio 2011. On request I still work with older versions of Trados/SDLX. I am also experienced in working with Catalyst, Idiom and Passolo.
