Word Processor Table Activity : NEW YORK KNICKS 2016 TEAM ROSTER

Sorting a list alphabetically is a very useful tool when you are trying to locate information quickly. Word comes equipped with a feature that can sort lists alphabetically or numerically, eliminating the task of sorting manually. This activity takes the common task of organizing a list in descending order (from highest to lowest) and applies it to 2016 New York Knicks 2016 Roster.

In this activity, you will also practice how to:

1. create and format a table.

2. insert a row in a table.

3. merge cells in a table.

4. change row height and column width.

STEP-BY-STEP PROCEDURE:

  1. Create a NEW document in Word.
  2. Insert a 3-column header as shown below

Your Name New York Knicks 2016 Roster Date

  1. Insert a table with 8 columns and 15 rows, then type the text into the table as shown in the attached roster file.
  2. After typing the text, select the entire text, and apply Times New Roman 12 pt
  3. Select the table, click LAYOUT tab, then click SORT, click Header Row, then select BY SALARY in DESCENDING order to list the players from the highest salary to the lowest.
  4. Apply the following formatting changes to the table:

a)  Select the top row, hit right click, then INSERT ROW ABOVE.

b)  Merge cells for the row you just inserted.

c)  Type New York Knicks Roster 2016 in the top row using Times New Roman 16 font, center align, and bold it.

d)  Adjust the column width according to the cell contents by dragging the entire column to the right or left

e)  Change the outside border line of the table to 3-pts thick.

f)  Change the inside border lines of the table to ½ pts dashed lines.

g)  Left align No. and Name columns,

h)  Center align Position, Age, Height, Weight, and College columns,

i)  Right align the Salary column.

j)  Shade (fill) the second player row and every other row using Dark Blue 80 %.

k)  Select the table and change the row height to 0.5”.
