Thursday-June 24th, 2009: DEPART USA

Bus to either NYC Airport will depart from Wooster Street Travel office at 11:30 AM (sharp) by a private deluxe motorcoach. If you cannot make it to the office by that time, you will have to have your own transportation to either NYC. Our flight # with Alitalia to Rome will depart at pm US time and arrive in Romeam Italian time the following day.

Friday - June 25th, 2010: ARRIVE ROME– TRANSFER TO AMALFI

This morning we will arrive in Rome airport. You will collect your bags and proceed through customs where our motor coach and driver will be waiting for us to board and begin our journey through Southern Italy. We will drive southerly along the “Highway of the Sun” to the Campania region – our destination: the Amalfi Coast This will be a leisurely travel day as we transition from the airport to the Campania region. Later that afternoon, we will arrive at our hotel. This evening, our Welcome Dinner will be included at a local Restaurant. (B/D)

Saturday - June 26, 2010: AMALFI – POSITANO – AMALFI

Today, after a bright and earlybreakfast, we will board our motor coach and drive along the Amalfi coast where we will pick up a hydrofoil and make a stop in Positano, a beautiful little village literally built into the rocks. We will have time to stroll through the village and have either a sip of Espresso or taste of Gelato. Lunch will on your own in Positano. Later in the afternoon,if time and road restrictions permitting, we will visit beautiful Ravello, which is nestles eleven hundred feet above the sea in the hillside with breathtaking views of the Mediterranean and the dramatic Amalfi coastline. We will visit the Villa Rufolo (entrance fees not included) which gave the musician, Richard Wagner, the inspiration to create one of his most famous operas, Parsifal. Late afternoon/early evening we return to Amalfi for dinner (included) at a Local Restaurant. (B/D)

Sunday - June 27th, 2010: AMALFI – SAINT ANDREW’S FESTIVAL

FREE DAY for RELAXATION AND EXPERIENCING THE BEAUTIFUL FESTIVAL OF ST. ANDREW’S, PATRON SAINT OF AMALFI AND ALSO OF SCOTLAND.

Whole day will be on your own.

Monday - June 28th,2010: AMALFI – SORRENTO

Today, we bid farewell to Amalfi and journey northerly to the charming sea-side town of Sorrento, which sits high on a beautiful plateau where we are greeted by the sapphire blue bay of Naples and the Majestic Mount Vesuvius. Along the way, we will visit Pompeii (optional), the ancient city that lay buried beneath volcanic ash for over 1000 years. This tour will reveal the remarkable ruins of an advanced civilization, which was abruptly ended by a violent eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79AD. Lunch will be on your own. Later that afternoon we will arrive at our hotel in Sorrento.

OPTIONAL – POMPEII: An optional tour of the ruins of historical Pompeii

Tuesday – June29 th, 2010: SORRENTO - CAPRI – SORRENTO

This morning, after breakfast, bright and early, we will be joined by our Local Guide and depart our hotel for a spectacular day. We will board the high speed hydrofoil to the fabled island of Capri. After a scenic funicular ride and a tour of the "Gardens of Augustus", lunch will be on your own. You will have time to stroll through the streets of Capri and shop before we board the hydrofoil and arrive back in Sorrento.

Tonight, dinner included at a local restaurant. (B/D)

OPTIONAL: LOCAL THEATER - After dinner, we will have a viewing of Neapolitan theatre, “the Tarantella Show” at Teatro Tasso.

Thursday - July1st, 2010: SORRENTO - NAPLES – SORRENTO

This morning, after breakfast we depart from our hotel and journey to the colorful city of Naples. We will be joined by our Local Guide for an orientation tour of the city. We will visit the National Archeological Museum among other sites of interests such as the Royal Palace, the Triumphal Arch of the New Castle and Galleria Umberto. The Archeological Museum contains a large collection of Roman artifacts fromPompeii, Stabiae and Herculaneum. The works are of the highest quality from the Greek, Roman and Renaissance times. Time permitting; we may enjoy one of the local scrumptious delights – a warm sfogliatella (clam shaped pastry). Then we’re off to our hotel. Tonight, dinner included at the hotel. (B/D)

Friday - July 2 nd, 2010: SORRENTO - SANTA MARIA A VICO - FAICCHIO – ROME

Today, bright and early after breakfast, we bid farewell to Sorrento and travel north along the "Highway of the Sun" to the eternal city of Rome. En route, we will stop in Santa Maria a Vico, Yolanda’s home town for a sip of espresso. We then journey to the small village of Faicchio to have lunch hosted by Yolanda. After lunch, we continue to our final destination - Rome. Upon checking into our hotel, Dinner will be on your own. (B/L)

Sunday– July 4 th, 2010: ROME – The Eternal City

After an early breakfast, we depart our hotel this morning for a very special, privately guided tour with our local guide of the priceless collection of art, maps and tapestries of the Vatican. We'll tour Raphael's rooms, decorated with frescoes by the artist, Raphael, whose paintings inspired the revolutionary style of the high Renaissance. But the highlight of our tour is the Sistine Chapel, where Michelangelo's famous frescoes are to be seen in new splendor after their recent renovation. The scene on the ceiling is literally a painted Bible and the story of humanity, a task that took four years of mental and physical anguish. The scene of the "Last Judgment" painted 30 years later behind the main alter, is a powerful and dark expression of the moment of final judgment. If the pope is in town, we may be able to see him from his papel window (around noon-time). Lunch will be on own. In the afternoon (time permitting), with our local guide, we will visit the Piazza di Spagna (Spanish Steps), the Pantheon, the Piazza di Navona and the Trevi Fountain where you will have a chance to toss 3 coins over your should and wish to visit Bella Italia again soon!

Tonight Farewell Dinner will be in a Local Restaurant with Entertainment.(B/D)

This morning bright and early after breakfast, we will bid “ARRIVEDERCI ROMA” and depart for the Rome Airport. Our flight is Alitalia flight # AZ---Departure from airport is (Italian time) and arrives (US Time) at JFK. We should arrive back in Hamden, Wooster Street Travel parking area by. (B)
