Why do you desire the position on the chapter leadership team that you are seeking?

Why did you join WiNUP?

I desire the position of Vice President in order to give AABE leadership who can see the big picture, who is action oriented, who supports the activities of the organization, and has high ethical standards. In addition, I am committed to AABE, its values, goals and mission and it is my desire to help ensure the continued success of the Chapter. Since my appointment by the AABE Columbus, OH Board of Directors to fill the term of Vice President, vacated by the previous VP due to illness, I have worked to improve the operating efficiencies of the chapter. I have worked to update our Columbus, Ohio Chapter of AABE website with current information, relocated the chapter mailbox and ensured it was checked on a regular basis, and looked for ways to make the office of VP valuable to AABE. AABE is an organization, which will continue to grow in importance as issues such as global warming, energy efficiency, and energy policies continue to come to the forefront. AABE will need visionary leaders who are able to see the big picture, who are action oriented, supportive of the organization, and work within the highest ethical standards.

What have you gained most from your membership in WiNUPAABE?

The things I have gained most from my membership with AABE is a knowledge of industry issues, the opportunity to give back to my community, the opportunity to grow and develop professionally, and obtain many networking opportunities. AABE has also afforded me an opportunity to work with unique individuals and acquire many awesome relationships.

What is your vision for the future of the Columbus, Ohio chapter of WiNUPAABE?

The vision I have for the Columbus, Ohio chapter of AABE is to be the premier chapter of the AABE organization. I would like to develop and grow the organization’s reputation to when National and other AABE chapters think of innovation they think Columbus, OH. When they think of visionary, they think of Columbus, OH. When they think of character, compassion, resourcefulness, groundbreaking ideas, financially self-sustaining, action oriented or giving back they think Columbus, OH chapter. When new chapters are formed and old chapters develop strategic plans they will stop and say, “How would Columbus, OH chapter do it?”

How would you accomplish that vision?

To accomplish the vision will require the efforts of many people understanding and supporting the vision through works. I would help members of the organization find what role in the organization, which allows them to maximize their strengths and talents. I would work to bring the membership into harmony and each person be recognized for his/her contributions to the organization. I would focus efforts on developing the chapter and making sure, we have covered home base before reaching out to other organizations.

If you could change one thing about the Columbus, Ohio Chapter of WiNUPAABE, what would it be? Why?

Columbus, OH Chapter of AABE is a great organization and if I could change, one thing about AABE it would be to make it a more structured organization. The responsibilities of a 501 (3) C organization are immense and in order to protect not only the organization but also the members and leaders an organization must have documented policies and procedures in place so there is never a question as to what action should be taken in any situation. With the chapter still in infancy, it is not unusual for there to be limited documented policies and procedures.

Why do you desire the position on the chapter executive board that you are seeking?

AAdditional comments to the membership (not required):

It has been a pleasure to serve as Vice-President over the last few months and I hope you will afford me the opportunity to continue to work as the VP of AABE and complete the jobs I have already started. I have worked to make the office of VP one, which will allow AABE to receive benefits from it. The VP should not be a figurehead to stand in for the President but have responsibilities and duties, which contribute to the growth of the organization and I will continue to work towards those goals when elected. d)
