BOARD OF DIRECTORS

JOB DESCRIPTION: President

SUMMARY: The President of Woman Within Eastern USA, Inc. (WWE) holds over-all primary responsibility for the activities of the organization.

1) BOARD ACCOUNTABILITY AND CONTAINER

a) Track action items developed at board meetings and prompt and support board members to

complete them in a timely manner.

b) Track & uphold By-Laws and Policies & Procedures of WWE, and prompt revisions as necessary.

c) Preside over Board meetings, keep meeting on track and encourage input from every member.

WWE Board of Directors will make decisions by consensus and within a feminist model.

d) Deal with complaints from the WWE community and respond to emails and phone calls promptly.

e) Develop & monitor agenda items for Board meetings that keeps the organization on track. (For

example: elections held according to by-laws)

f) Keep the mission and goals of WWE in all dealings on behalf of WWE.

2) LIAISON TO WOMEN WITHIN (WW)

a) Negotiate licensing agreement.

b) Read minutes and offer input as necessary for WW Board meetings.

c) Attend yearly meeting with WW, as required.

d) Register differences with WW and advocate for WWE as appropriate.

e) Read and distribute all communications as necessary and appropriate.

f) Selection of Weekend Leaders for the WWW.

3) WWE COMMUNITY

a) Conduct quarterly phone conferences with local area presidents to facilitate

communication and support.

b) Respond to emails & phone calls and direct them if necessary.

c) Meet with communities and be an active and visible member of WWE.

d) Support and communicate regularly with WWE Administrator.

e) Staff WWTW a minimum once yearly.

4) BOARD COMMUNICATIONS

a) Keep informed regarding all issues and communications that come to the Board’s attention.

b) Vote on all issues on which the Board needs to make a decision.

c) Help define and put into place new policies where needed.

d) Oversee the application process that outside organizations utilize according to WWE Policy for

endorsement, sponsor and co-sponsoring of workshops.

e) Be present for phone conferences once a month, and attend board meetings as scheduled.

f) Respond to WWE community via email and telephone as needed.

g) Submit entries for WWE Blog, add to Pinterest page, contribute to Twitter account, monitor and comment on WWE Facebook group page; co-administrate WWE Facebook page.
