JOB TITLE: Performance AnalystStudent Intern

DEPARTMENT:Performance Analysis Department

WORKING HOURS:25 hours per week from August – May (2016/2017)

REPORTS TO:Head of Performance Analysis

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Academy Manager

JOB PURPOSE

  • To provide a vocational experience in Performance Analysis alongside the completion of an MSc degree with Worcester University.
  • To contribute to the success and achievement of the WWFC Academy.
  • To strive for excellence within the Performance Analysis department and aim to provide optimal services to all footballersin line with the W.O.L.V.E.S culture and philosophy.
  • Develop your skills and competency over a 9 month period working in professional sport.

JOB LOCATION

  • The normal place of work will be the Sir Jack Hayward Training Ground in Compton, Wolverhampton, but you will be expected to undertake travel as is necessary to fulfil your job to the satisfaction of WWFC.

HOURS OF WORK

  • Such hours as are necessary to carry out your duties. This will involve a minimum of 25 hours per week and may include working outside normal office hours including evenings, weekends and on public holidays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be an ambassador of the W.O.L.V.E.S Culture and philosophy.
  • Work alongside the Academy Performance Analysts in order to provide support to the Academy age group teams and coaches.
  • Assist in the filming and coding of age-group matches.
  • Assist with the delivery of individual, unit and team based analysis sessions.
  • Maintenance of statistical databases relevant to Academy age groups.
  • Contribute to projects and reports specific to Performance Analysis department.
  • Complete monthly SMART targets focused on service development and continued professional development (reviewed by line manager prior to admission).

An undergraduate BSc / BA Degree in Sport Science specialising in either Sports Science or Coaching / X
Intent to complete MSc in a sport science related field / X

Evidence of previous experience working as a Performance Analyst in professional sport whether it be paid or unpaid / X
Previous experience of using SportsCode software / X
High computer literacy and experience of Microsoft Office. / X
Confident in using video production packages such as Sony Vegas and Adobe Premiere / X

The selected candidate will be expected to combine their academic studies alongside the work requirements of WWFC. On a weekly basis this will typically involve 25 hours work within the Performance Analysis department and one day at University. / X
For the benefit of the candidate and the work at WWFC it is likely the candidate be located within an appropriate commutable distance to Wolverhampton. / X
Ability to work irregular and unsocial hours as required. To have an understanding that work may be subject to change with less than 24 hours’ notice on occasions. / X
Work will regularly be outside normal working hours, in evening and on weekends and bank holidays. / X

ThePerformance Analysis Department is amalgamated with both senior and Academy Footballers and you may be asked to work within either department at short notice for the benefit of the club.

*This role does involve training, supervising, working with and/or being in sole charge of children and young people.
