Kit Kat Irish Schools Cross Country Championships

at DCU Sports Grounds, Glasnevin, Dublin 9

Saturday 3rd March 2007

The first race will commence at 1 pm sharp.

Information – How to get to DCU / St. Clare’s

DCU is an 85-acre campus situated midway between Dublin airport (approx 5 miles) and Dublin city centre. The campus is bordered on two sides by Ballymun Road and Collins Avenue. The university is within easy access of a number of major routes, so traveling by car or by bus should be easy.

The St. Clare’s sports grounds are not actually located on the main DCU campus - they are situated within 600m, opposite HampsteadPark behind Esso garage off the Ballymun Road. There are 2 entrances into the playing fields – one via the Ballymun Road, the second off Glasnevin Avenue via the main entrance to the hospital. The hospital entrance is ideal for the bigger buses as there is plenty of legal parking along this main road.

From outside Dublin
From south east (N11) use Eastlink, East Wall Road, Clonliffe Road, Drumcondra Road. Turn left at Griffith Avenue (for 1 mile) before turning right on to the Ballymun Road. St. Clare’s is almost immediately to your left opposite HampsteadPark.

From other directions around the country, use the M50 (including Westlink if applicable). Come off the M50 at the Ballymun exit / Long Term Airport Car Park (Junction 4) and drive through Ballymun, straight through the Collins Avenue/Ballymun Road crossroads, proceeding for approx another 1000 metres. As this is a dual carriageway – one proceeds to Glasnevin Avenue, turning right and an immediate right back onto the Ballymun Road. St. Clare’s Sports Grounds are located immediately to your left before the Esso garage.

From town:

Follow the airport road which takes you through Drumcondra and turn left onto Griffith Avenue. Proceed along Griffith avenue for approx 1 mile turning right onto the Ballymun Road. St. Clare’s Sports Grounds is immediately to your left.

It is also possible to drive through Phibsborough towards Glasnevin, turning into the Ballymun Road. While the DCU Campus is on the right hand side of the dual carriageway, St. Clare’s Sports Grounds is on the left hand side, just before the entrance into the Esso garage. Note also that the St. Clare’s Sports Grounds entrance is the same as the Glasnevin Tennis Club.

By bus

The main bus routes serving the campus are indicated on any Dublin City Bus Route Map.

Bus timetables for all Dublin Bus routes servicing the campus are available online, while Bus Eireann also offers timetable information on their website.
