Meeting – 10 July 2013
With the theme of Laugh out Loud (LOL), we couldn’t help but have a fun meeting especially as it was our humorous speech contest.
Our early assignments were all well done. Our new Sgt @ Arms, Margarita brought the meeting to order on time, our chairman for the first half of the meeting, Sally, was well prepared and the meeting ran smoothly. Monique announced that there were no program changes and we were underway. Linda warmly welcomed our guest, Christine Pizzuti, Area Governor and chief judge for the contest. Binu gave us a movie review on the King’s Speech, well done Binu.
Lauren, has just returned from a working holiday in Korea where she caught up with family and friends, welcome back Lauren.
Tony Tione was the first new member inducted in our formal induction ceremony, welcome to our club Tony, we are all looking forward to having you as a member of the club.
Ian was our contest chair and toastmaster for the evening and his experience ensured that all ran smoothly and according to the rules.
We were all entertained by six very funny and interesting speeches from Margarita, Michelle, Rejene, Zikar, Monique and I. If you weren’t there you missed some really great speeches. Margarita presented us with some great word pictures and movement around the stage as she told us about her chickens in their Swiss Chalet.
Michelle also threw herself into her topic of the Wiggles, practicing some interesting moves, I wish I were that agile.
Zikar shared the racy side of his character.
Rejene shared his tips on how to vary a McDonald’s meal and how to beat the breathalyser.
Monique revealed some interesting facts about the contents of a woman’s handbag.
I talked about the clutter in my life.
To the contestants, thank you for participating, I thoroughly enjoyed the speeches and was glad I wasn’t a judge as they were all very close.

The winner will go to the Area Contest.
Parramatta Pioneers will be hosting the area Humorous Speech and Table Topics contest to be held at the Parramatta RSL, late August or early September, the date to be advised. This means we will need people to help, taking registrations, and on the day, by selling raffle tickets, welcoming guests, and working on the registration desk. This is a great opportunity to make ourselves known and meet other Toastmasters in the Area; we are one of six clubs in Area 13 who will be competing.
