WISCONSIN DELLS YOUTH BASKETBALL

PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT

We ask that you pledge to be responsible for your words and actions while attending or participating in WDYBC activities by conforming your behavior to this code of conduct. Your conduct is a reflection upon our program and our community.

·  I understand that attendance at practices is mandatory. Missing practices will affect playing time and possible tournament participation. Cooperation and attention during practice will also affect playing time and tournament participation. Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated at practice or tournaments.

·  I will make every effort to attend all practices and games, and in the event that I will miss a practice or game I will inform the coach as soon as possible.

·  I understand that as a player, I am to act as a representative of the City of Wisconsin Dells and its community members. Behavior, actions and attitudes must be conducive to the positive representation of our community. Disciplinary action may result.

·  I understand that my individual ability and skill level will affect playing time in games.

·  I understand that it is a privilege to participate in WDYBC and with this privilege I must be responsible for my actions.

·  I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, officials and association representatives at all times

·  I will demand and honor that all players, coaches, officials, volunteers and spectators are treated with respect regardless of race, gender, creed or ability.

·  I will never ridicule or berate others for a mistake or losing.

·  I will treat my opponent with respect in the same manner I would want to be treated.

·  I will respect the officials and their authority. I will not argue with or criticize game officials.

·  I will respect the coaches for their decisions and I will listen to and follow their direction

·  I will not engage in the use of profanity, obscene language or improper actions.

·  I will play by the rules and resolve conflict without resorting to hostility or violence.

·  I will do my best to remember that youth basketball is supposed to be fun and that winning and losing are part of everyone’s experience.

·  I will respect and show appreciation for the volunteers who give their time to basketball.

·  I will learn and respect the rules of the game.

·  I will support a sports environment that is free of alcohol, drugs or tobacco and I will refrain from use at all games, practices and tournaments.

PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT AGREEMENT

I have read and understand the above Code of Conduct, and agree to abide by its guidelines at all team and WDYBC activities. I also acknowledge that failure to follow these guidelines will result in action, which may include suspension or removal from WDYBC activities.
