Post: Fundraiser (Lottery)

Reporting to:Head of Fundraising / Lottery Co-ordinator

Hours:Min. 12hrs/week up to full-time (working days and hours to be agreed with successful candidate)

Band:2 (£14,120 -£17,2657 pro rata based on hours)

Location:Hospice to report in about fundraising activity, field-based for majority of role (expenses reimbursed)

Job summary:The post-holder will be responsible for personal objectives, to include:

  • To develop/promote the lottery and recruit new members through a combination of door-to-door canvassing, pitches at pre-booked venues and community events
  • To achieve a minimum target number of new members within defined timescales.

The nature of the post will involve travel throughout Wirral, for which a mileage allowance will be paid.

Please note: flexible hours will include day time, evening and weekend work to fulfil the role

Key tasks:

  • To individually achieve membership sign-ups against personal and dept targets, upholding customer and Hospice core values and best interests at all times.
  • To work as part of a small team to develop and promote lottery fundraising activities to achieve the set targets and budgets.
  • To canvas new lottery members door-to-door, within designated geographical areas of the Wirral, primarily promoting standing orders as the optimum payment method but ultimately accepting card, cheque or cash methods.
  • To identify suitable events where lottery fundraising can be promoted in discussion with the Head of Fundraising and Lottery Administration Co-ordinator.
  • To attend events to recruit new members and/or sell single tickets as appropriate.

Administration

  • To ensure all members complete application forms correctly.
  • To issue receipts for any cash payments.
  • To return all paperwork and payments to the fundraising office within agreed timescales.
  • To produce weekly activity report.
  • Undergo such training and instruction as may be required to competently carry out the needs of the job, to comply with the requirements of the Gambling Commission and fundraising governing bodies’ standards (relevant procedures and standards will be shared upon induction).
  • Attend and participate in such meetings as may be reasonably required.

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety and Fire requirements and internal policies as determined by Board of Directors.

Other

  • Undertake conscientiously such other tasks and responsibilities as maybe required and reasonable in the circumstances at the time.
  • Undergo such training and instruction as may be required to competently carry out the needs of the job.

IMPORTANT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Driving Licence/Use of Own Vehicle:

As driving forms part of your duties it is an express condition of your employment with the Hospice that:-

i)You have your own vehicle and use it to undertake your duties; and

ii)You hold and continue to hold a valid driving licence of the relevant class at all times.

It is your responsibility to ensure that your own vehicle is properly insured to cover your duties, covered by a valid MOT certificate and has a valid road tax at all times. You must provide a copy of the insurance certificate to the Facilities Department.

You must produce your licence for inspection upon request and ensure that you take all necessary steps to continue to hold the licence.

If you lose your licence for any reason you must notify your Manager immediately. If you lose your driving licence and are unable to make alternative arrangements to fulfil your duties which are satisfactory to the Hospice your continued employment may be at risk.

The Hospice will reimburse you in respect of fuel costs for business miles at the Hospice’s business mileage rate. This is paid in line with Wirral Hospice St John’s Employee Benefits Policy.
