·  Club Sign

We have advertised the club in the local handbook.

Club Play

·  Mondays

Continue to draw the clubs best Juniors and intermediates to play competitive singles and doubles.

·  Wednesday ladies

I’m pleased to report that there is a regular turnout of ladies to the Wednesday session. I would particularly like to thank them for working with me over the holiday courses.

·  Wednesdays

I understand from Russell that Wednesdays are reasonably well attended with a core group.

·  Thursdays

Has been consistently attended all year. We were particularly pleased to welcome back around 6 or so intermediates, who had started their tennis off as Juniors and had decided to start up once again. Including new joining members and encouraging some of our talented Juniors to join in.

Club Events

·  Spring Launch

This included, a Prince racket demonstration BBQ and a doubles competition. The turnout was excellent with over 60 members and friends attending.

·  Finals Day

As in previous years we held our finals day in September. The event comprised fastest serve competition, Prince Demo, BBQ and Club Tournament. This years winners were James Griffiths and Toby Rawlings.

Id like to pay special thanks to those who have helped make these events a special success, Simon Morton for arranging the BBQ, Ross Cullin for organsing the tournament and of course all those members and friends who turned up to these events to make them so successful.

League Tennis

Mike will be presenting a short report however, we were pleased to see our intermediates and Juniors took part in league this year.

We were extremely disappointed to drop the ladies team this year. We will be looking for extra support to Mike next year to assist with team selection this year for both men’s and women’s so watch this space.

Winterbourne Sports Association

I am pleased to report that we have attended most of the WSA meetings this year. Our attendance and participation on this committee was welcomed particularly by Tim Bowles – Parish Chairman, Richard Climmer, and Alan Gyles. The meetings have been beneficial both in terms of the clubs involvement and the discussions in taking our club forward in the future.

In particular, the significant benefits are:

·  Grant application for maintenance and club development

·  Discussions on improved collaboration between the three clubs

·  Working together to maintain the recs status as an excellent place to play sport in the village

Coaching

2010 has once again been a successful year in terms of its minis, juniors and intermediates.

Saturday coaching numbers have remained good and we are particularly pleased that a number of minis joined following our Easter holiday course. I would like to pay thanks to the parents who help me and support the Children on Saturday mornings.

We have continued to maintain a good balance of boys and girls within the Junior section. The important aspect is to encourage these girls over the next few years to join in with club play.

I would like to take the opportunity to thanks Roz Jones, Craig Abbs, Sadie Rawlinson, Erin Davis, Steffy Dunning, Alex Heath and Toby Rawlings for their assistance on Saturdays, the holiday course and for the effort and commitment they give to the club.

As you may be aware, Sadie and Erin have departed for University. On Saturdays we are currently rotating the coaching assistant duties around a number of our more experienced Intermediates. Shortly we will be looking to select the most keen to undertake coaching assistant qualifications.

We have continued our links to the local schools. All our courses are advertised in all of the local catchment.

I would like to pay thank to Jonathan Stoodley who has regularly represented the junior section at the committee meetings andthe enthusiasm he brings to Saturday coaching

I would like to take this opportunity in thanking Dad for his continued efforts for the club/juniors.

Plans for coming year.

·  Continue to encourage our members to use the facilities.

·  Consider with the committee obtaining the nationally recognised Sport England Clubmark scheme

·  Put on similar events as per last year with respect to Easter Launch and Finals day

·  Rebuild the ladies club section.

AND FINALLY

A few special thank you’s!

None of the above would have been achieved without huge huge efforts behind the scenes by the committee. We held three committee meetings, all of which were well attended. In addition an incredible amount of work went in to ensure that this was a successful year.

Id like to thank:

·  Esme Purnellfor her excellent work as treasurer.

·  Alex Dufty for undertaking the auditing. I understand this will be his last year, however we would like to pay particular thanks to the years of service for undertaking this role.
