April 16, 2015 Meeting Minutes

√ Review Minutes from Prior Meeting / Approved
√ State of the School / CMS SafeSchools Inspection - received a bonus point for having Character Development Traits posted.
2015-16 Proposed Budget has been submitted by Ann Clark, Superintendent, to County Commission. District asking $39.9 million more from county. Goals: #1 Pushing Literacy, #2 Competitive Salaries (NC is 42 of 50), #3 Student Support. Full budget on CMS website. Copies to parents in folders next Thursday. Only steady increase in funding over past several years if from federal government.
Destination Imagination (similar to Odyssey of the Mind) brought to Mr. B by a parent. After school club. Small fee ($100 per team). Runs Sept - May, not good for in-school clubs. Presentation at end of course. Would need parent volunteer to lead. Revisit toward end of year to gauge interest levels.
CMS Transfer Fair. (Now-June) For staff looking to move w/in CMS. No numbers on staff changes for WP for coming year right now.
Transformation Grant. Allotment from district for extra staffing positions is not much. WP is still committed to goal of getting back 3rd & 5th grades and expanding to 2nd 4th grades. We are an Opportunity Culture School, but budget shortfalls are a concern w/out extra allotments from the district. (Extra $ for teachers taking on extra responsibilities.)
Tuesday, 4/14, Personalized Learning Team visited. Will know if we will be part of cohort for next year by Monday, 4/20. Allows for a lot of professional development, support and resources to teachers.
Beginners Day - 26 kids and parents attended, went very well.
5th grade Charleston meeting, 4/16, well attended.
EOGs in late May - proctors needed.
