Administrative Report: The Kindergarten classes have begun their plays. It is wonderful to see how much they have grown in the last year. So far we have 88 children registered for Kindergarten for next year, which is an increase from last year. We will make 2 sets of classes up, one for if we continue with 5 classes and one if we need to have 6 classes.

Ms. Evelyn is looking to see if we can add a summer program that will benefit incoming children who are having a little more difficulties, maybe about 30 or so, it will be in conjunction with summer rec.The 5th and 6thgrade classes will be having a Career Day on the April 20th. We have 6 presenters who will speak to the children for 15-20 minutes each about their career. Thursday 4/21 is Lights on for Education from 7:15-9:15 at Valley Stream Memorial JR High School. The Willow Road art work will be presented in the gym. We have just finished state testing for ELA and Math. We had a 66% of parents OPT out, which was the highest in the district. The next test will be the 4th grade science test. A letter went home if you OPTED out of the NWEA, just to inform parents of how this test is a tool to help drive instruction.

We are looking forward to field day; the 1st through 6th grade will be having their field day together on one day. Kindergarten will have a separate day. Lunch will be served by Applebee’s which they are donating and the PTA will be purchasing Rita’s ices for each child in grades K-6. The classes for next year will be made up in June, if your child has any issues with another child and you think it would be better if they be in separate classes, please send in a letter. The teachers make up the classes, and Ms. Capozzoli will speak with the teachers.

We now have a text option, if you no longer want it, you must text the word stop to the number that texted you.
