Objectives

· Participant will be able to make an action plan to support healthy sexuality in persons that they serve and support.

· Participants will understand normal sexual development for persons with developmental disabilities.

· Participants will be able to develop strategies for reducing risk factors for sexual abuse in persons with developmental disabilities.

· Participants will be able to discuss behavioral indicators of possible sexuality issues.

Continuing Education Units

IDHD will provide six CEUs to social workers, nursing home administrators, speech/language pathologists and QMRPs for attending the entire workshop.

About the Presenter

Shirley Paceley, M.A., is the Director of Blue Tower Training Center at Macon Resources, Inc. She received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Illinois. Ms. Paceley has worked with people with disabilities for over 33 years and is an author, counselor, consultant and international trainer on sexual abuse prevention and intervention of persons with developmental disabilities. Ms. Paceley has received local, state and national awards for her work in this area.
