Board Minutes

November 2, 2009

Civic Center

6:00 p.m.

Present: Nate Weber, Kirk Gerdes, Brenda Bredesen, Libby Revier, Dan Tollefson, Shelly Duininck, Karen Skaggs, Terri Schneider, Crystal Goosman, Ben Werder, Doyle Slagter, Larry Brown, Jason Mayer, Randy Kobienia

Secretary’s Report: Motion made by Larry Brown to approve the Secretary’s Report as presented, seconded by Ben Werder and approved by the Board.

Treasurer’s Report: Larry Brown recapped on the financials and noted he will have a budget report at next months meeting. November being a tough month with not having all the players invoiced as well as sponsors and tournament teams. Nate will talk to Play-It-Again on outstanding sponsorship dues. Karen Skaggs brought up that we need to award Taylor Swart with a gift card from Play-It-Again for selling the most raffle tickets. Motion made by Jason Mayer to approve the Treasurer’s Report seconded by Kirk Gerdes and approved by the Board.

On-Ice: Minutes were presented by Jason Mayer with notable items being:

Jerseys have been ordered. Jason talked about having transfer patches. We would have Banners with sponsors on them which we would put up at all home games. Jason will continue looking into the cost of the banners. A letter will be sent out to our 3rd grade skaters in Mites asking them if they would like to play with the squirts. We will be having a Rinkwriter and game clock training on Monday, November 16th, at 6:00 for all team reps. The question was brought up if we want to pay for one month of internet at the rink, the cost would be $40.00. Motion made by Jason Mayer that we pay for one month up to $50.00 seconded by Randy Kobienia and approved by the Board.

Skater’s numbers:

Bantam A – 18 skaters, 1 goalie

PeeWee A – 19 skaters, 3 goalies

Squirts – 19 skaters, 2 goalies

12U – 11 skaters, 3 coming from 10U

10U – 9 skaters

Fund Raising: Libby Revier followed up on Sponsorships with Mills, Bremer, and Duininck Inc., committing to $1,500 and Blue Line Club with $2,000. West Central Steele needs to be taken off the website page as they are not at the $2,000 level. Libby talks some again about the Ice Board and will continue to be working on this. Larry will be sending her a flyer to do with Ice Board.

Public Relations: Libby Revier noted the Parents Meeting went over well.

Tournaments: Ben Werder noted that we have 11 spots as of day of board meeting to fill with teams for our home tournaments. With Bantams B only having one team signed up. Bantams A having only Willmar and Alex so far.

Old Business: Gas Cards will be left on Agenda for next meeting. Nate asked if we could have a representative from WHA at Blue Line Club board meetings, Crystal said she would be WHA representative. Discussion about still having one board position available was addressed.

Motion to adjourn made by Nate Weber, seconded by Larry Brown and approved by the Board.

Next meeting will be at the Civic Center, on Monday, December 7th, at 6:00 p.m.
