Job Profile

Person reports to Youth and Family Support Coordinator

Person Supervises Volunteers and Support Workers

Grade £10.22 ph

Hours 12.5 hrs per week

Purpose of the Job

To support young people with learning disabilities to transition into adulthood as socially active citizens using entrepreneurial and creative based methods of working such as cooking & baking.

Members

1.  To ensure members have the information, training, support and resources they need to make the most of their time on placement

2.  To manage and develop partnership, referral and signposting pathways

3.  To support, plan and help members manage their time at market days

Management & administration

1.  To supervise all support workers and volunteers on placements within this project

2.  To contribute to development of policy to ensure best practice

3. To place and support 21 disabled YP per year.

Development

1.  To research, promote and develop creative activities & placements with consideration to members’ support needs and wishes as outlined in the Journey Plan

2.  To research transport issues and to promote independent travel for our members

3.  To ensure that all members who may be in need of assistance can be referred to appropriate agencies for any further advice and support

4.  To develop members’ participation in the running of the project in association with the FE Manager.

5.  To keep abreast of current development in the field of social inclusion including policy at a national level.

Co-operation, Liaison and publicity

1.  To provide information about the Zest Kitchen opportunities in an accessible format

2.  To promote the importance of being socially active citizens within the Limes and with our partners in the community.

3.  To attend staff team meetings or external organisations meetings when required by FE Manager or The Director

4.  To provide written & verbal reports for management meetings

5.  To promote the project to people with learning disabilities in the community in conjunction with the FE Manager

General

1.  To ensure positive links between members, their supporters and volunteers

2.  To support young adults with learning disabilities to sustain professional relationships

3.  To develop creative skills opportunities within Zest Kitchen.

4.  To ensure the support provided to young people with learning disabilities is of the highest standard and fully takes into account their needs and wishes.
