Practices—Track practice will start on Tuesday, February 13th immediately following school. Students will need to be at the stadium, ready to start by 3:55 pm each day. Students should be picked up by 5:15 pm daily. Parents may park in the lot by the stadium to pick up their child.

Please be respectful of the coach’s time with athletes by not interacting with any athlete during practice time, and saving questions to coaches for outside of practice by email or phone call.

Attendance— Our philosophy is that if you are on a team you commit to being with the team during practice and at meets on a consistent basis. Performance in practices reflects in performance during competition. We will work with athletes who have conflicts; however, non-school events do not take precedence over the team practices and events.

Athletes should communicate with coaches about practice conflicts, but meet participation is expected other than illness, injury, or family emergency. Those situations should be communicated to the event coach as soon as possible so coaches can arrange an alternate participant.

Unexcused absences from practice may result in the following: additional workout, removal from events in a meet, or removal from meet(s).

Uniform/Equipment - We ask that all athletes take good care of the equipment and the uniform/sweats distributed to them for the season. If any of these items are lost or damaged, the athlete will be asked to pay replacement costs. Please do not wash uniforms. They should be returned to the school the day after the meet.

Shoes: We encourage running shoes over walking shoes or basketball shoes. The athletes that are involved in sprinting or jumping events need to wear spikes for track meets. Athletes should always wear athletic attire or their school athletic uniform when not in a team issued uniform.

Meets – are mostly held on Thursdays, with the exception of the Timberview / Trinity Springs Meet (Wed), and Keller ISD Zone Meet (Tues). Field events will begin at 4:30, with running events starting by 5:15. A meet schedule is available on the athletics website.

At the meets, athletes are responsible for preparing for their events by warming up and checking in on time. Coaches may not always be available at the meets to give directions, so athletes will need to be aware of the meet order and the times of their events by listening to announcements and being early to the event location.

*Athletes will also conduct themselves appropriately at meets as a representative of Timberview Middle School. Inappropriate behavior at a meet will not be tolerated, and may result in athletes missing future events.

Qualifying for a meet: Athletes will need to meet the requirements set by their event coach to qualify for the meets. The final decision will be made by the specific event coach based on try-outs, run-offs, and/or prior meet performances. Only 3 athletes per individual event are allowed to go for a school each week. Athletes still have an opportunity to go to future meets even if they did not qualify the week before.

Signing out at an event: An athlete is permitted to leave with his or her parent instead of riding the bus back to the school. Parents must sign their child out with one of the coaches. We do encourage athletes to stay and support their teammates after their final event is done. Track and field is a “team” sport!

Timberview/Trinity Springs Track Meet on March 21st

The Hawks will co-host their meet with Trinity Springs the week after Spring Break. We will be looking for Hospitality Room donations (including drinks, sandwich/ veggie/ fruit trays, and deserts) to provide for visiting coaches and meet workers with experience.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT, AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO A GREAT SEASON!

GO HAWKS!
