We are committed to making sure our students are Career & College Ready. No matter what route you choose we want you to feel prepared and confident. We are offering two sessions during ‘Rising Senior Night.’ YOU CHOOSE if you want to attend one session or two. Mrs. Smathers & Mrs. Ensley will present ‘need-to-know’ info about senior supplies, parking, pictures over the summer, and senior ads at each session. Either way we encourage you to come and join us as our special guests help you plan for your dreams while you enjoy dessert!

SESSION ONE:

Focus: Making yourself marketable for the workforce, military,

and/or acquiring a certificate at a community college.

When: 6:00 pm - 6:25 pm

Where: PHS Cafeteria

Special Guests: Mr. Wendell Godfrey (Employment), Sgt. Lonnell Thompson (Army), Sgt. Sean Jones (Marines), and two HCC Representatives including Sandy Fischer for Certificate Programs such as CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) and Matt Heimburg for Two-Year Associate Degrees

These guests will share the highlights of their respective programs and then be available for questions afterwards.

DESSERTS WILL BE PROVIDED BETWEEN SESSIONS IN THE LOBBY.

SESSION TWO:

Focus: Preparation starts NOW for the two-year/four-year application & scholarship scramble

When: 6:30 pm – 7:15 pm

Where: PHS Auditorium

Special Guests: David Pressley (PHS Athletic Dir./College Athletics/NCAA), Laura Misner (CFNC), Matt Heimburg (HCC), Frank O’Hagan (Lenoir-Rhyne University-Private Institution), Hayes Tilson (UNC-Asheville-Public Institution)

These guests will be sharing valuable snippets of information about their organizations and institutions in hopes that you get the inside scoop before you start the application process. What are colleges looking for and how do they differ from private to public? A Q&A with the three represented schools will be open at the end of the session.

PRINTED PACKETS OF RESOURCES, ASSIGNED to YOU, will be available in the lobby concerning graduation materials (Jostens), senior photos, senior checklists/timeline, essay tips, ACT/SAT dates, CFNC, etc.
