Who can apply for the Holiday Grant Program?
All applicants must be current Carers Victoria Members and be a current unpaid carer for a person with a disability, a chronic, mental or terminal illness, an addiction, or an older person with care needs.
How will the winners of the Holiday Grants be selected?
The Carers Victoria Holiday Grant Selection Panel will decide on the winners based on their 300 word answer regarding their caring role and how a holiday would benefit their family. The winners will be notified in writing by 30 December 2017.
Can I take the person I care for?
Yes, it is your choice who you take on your holiday. You may take your family or take time out for yourself.
Can I book the holiday myself?
The holiday must be booked with the Flight Centre Representative that Carers Victoria nominates and provides to the successful recipients. You will be required to quote a password as part of the booking process.
What can I book with the Grant?
You can book domestic flights, accommodation (hotel, motel and caravan park) and car hire within Australia. All inclusions are subject to availability. Please see Flight Centre for full details of inclusions and availability.
Can I book an overseas holiday?
No, the holiday must be for domestic travel within Australia.
Can I book more than one holiday?
Yes, you can book more than one holiday as long as the total value does not exceed $2,000.
How do I redeem the Carers Holiday Grant?
Carers Victoria will provide you with a letter which will have instructions on how to book your holiday with our nominated Flight Centre representative. You will need to call Flight Centre and quote your name and password.
How long do I have to redeem the Grant?
You must book and pay for your holiday by 30 June 2018.
Can you pay for my transport/respite?
No, the grant does not include any respite or transport. Please speak to your local respite centre on 1800 052 222 for information on respite.
Will this be an ongoing Grant?
No, the Carer Holiday Grant Program is a one off donation thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor.
Can I book a holiday valued at more than $2,000
You can book a holiday for more than $2,000; however you will be liable for all costs exceeding $2,000 and must arrange payment directly with the Flight Centre Representative.
Can I book a holiday for late 2018?
All holidays must be booked and paid for by 30 June 2018, but can be taken later in 2018.
Is Holiday Insurance included?
No, you must arrange your own Holiday Insurance. Carers Victoria accepts no liability for your holiday.
Why did I not receive a Holiday Grant?
Carers Victoria received limited funding from a generous donor to provide the one-off Carers Holiday Grant Program. Winning applications were selected by Carers Victoria’s Carer Holiday Grant selection panel based on their application and the decision of the panel is final.
I was successful in being awarded a grant, but am having trouble booking my holiday, who can I talk to?
