-Report as per the yearbook (Attachment A).
-Noted:
- there were no follow-ups from the previous year’s minutes, as they they surrounded formalising the club’s constitution;
- the club needs to continue to work on systems to ensure we reach a higher level of product;
- the club needs to work out how to tell its story going forward, either through building of a club house or other ways.
- we need to continue to connect with the local community, for example with the new High School.
- the high school will be available for our use for training, and possibly even use of its gym for training sessions upon request.
- the need to maintain Peel Cricket Association executive committee attendance/membership, to ensure our clubs best interests are met at that level.
- the club has qualified a number of people for both level 1 and 2 coaching and umpiring.
- Treasurer (Ray Goddard)
-Report available upon request.
-Noted that the club is in a sound financial position.
-Noted that there are still $1,910 worth of outstanding fees from the previous season being pursued.
- Administrator (Gavin Clothier)

President: Leigh McIntosh (1 year)
Vice President:Rod Graham (2 years)
Administrator: Gavin Clothier (1 year)
Treasurer:Ray Goddard (2 years)
Community Director:Mark Haskell (temporarily)

-Peter Russell will take on the in2cricket coordination role.
- The junior advocate position is still to be filled.
Peel Cricket Association Hosting of Grand Finals
- Members were asked whether they approved of the club applying to host Peel Cricket Association Grand Finals.
- It was noted that we would likely be required to ‘bid’ to host finals with another club in the Northern part of the competition (e.g. Warnbro, Safety Bay, Hillman)
- Was noted that it could be a reasonable fundraiser for the club.
- It was noted that a proposal would likely be required to be presented to the Peel Cricket Association prior to Christmas.
- It was noted that players would be expected to assist in preparation and running of the grounds on the day.
- Members approved the club exploring the option further with a view to apply to host grand finals if possible.
Club Rooms
- Members were asked whether they approved of the club actioning the building of club rooms at Settlers Oval
- It was noted that a multi-use facility is likely to be built in Baldivis by around 2017-18.
- Members were asked whether they were prepared to fund (in part) club rooms on Settlers Oval or wait until the council built the multi use facility.
- It was noted that consent would mean the club putting a sub-committee in place to investigate what it will take to get the club rooms built.
- Noted that some form of local Government contribution could be expected.
- Key points of discussion included:
-It would be a good way to tie in with the community, in making the facility available for some other purposes
-Discussion on how it would be paid for, in terms of higher fees, fundraising etc. The answer to this depends largely on the total cost which is to be determined at this stage.
-Noted that there is a disconnect between the junior and senior segments of the club, and clubrooms may go some way to breach that.
-The imposition of too higher mortgage due to clubrooms may place undue pressure on the club.
- Members approved the setting up of a sub-committee to investigate building of club rooms at Settlers Oval.
General Business
- Question was asked whether there would be shelter at the Baldivis high school oval, where we will play games next year.
-Determined that there is nothing now, so the club may need to provide its own shelter in our first few games there.
-Was noted that the high school itself is looking at building some shelter.
-Was noted that the club will have access to change rooms.
- Discussion held on quality of club equipment (team kitbags). Was noted that kit bags will be assessed and renewed for all teams.
- Discussion held on non-playing members. It was noted that non-playing members can sign up and are entitled to vote on club issues.
- Discussion held on fund-raising on game day, with the example of an opposition side doing sausage sizzles during their games.
-Was agreed that the club endorses individual sides to fundraise in such a manner.
Meeting closed 5:03pm

President’s Report
In our 12th year as a club we must tick it off as being a success in many areas. We have seen strong membership numbers once again fielding teams in every grade from under 10’s all the way through to A grade in the seniors. Financially we are looking quite solid. On the field our batting averages have increased as our bowling stocks remained strong. With 7 teams making appearances in the final series we must be happy with that. Plus our biggest strength has seen an increase in volunteers serving around the club. As a president I have much to be thankful for.
Once again we were recognized by the WACA as one of two clubs in our association for running a well developed junior program. Our holiday clinics have developed a niche in our community and will continue to grow if we put energy into them.
Thanks must go out to the committee for all they do. Without their assistance we would not have a club. When we have a bunch of people chipping in the workload doesn’t seem so big. I also want to thank the other volunteers like junior coaches, the guys who help run the seniors training drills and our captains who help keep the game rolling.
In moving forward there are a few areas of the club we need to address as we continue to evolve into a large club.
- We need to improve our volunteerism around the club. To meet the needs of a club our size we need to form sub committees to assist the executive committee in the daily running of our cricket community. How can we utilize the gifts and talents of our members more effectively without burning out the few.
- We need to fill vacancies in key positions on the committee (vice president, junior advocate, cricket widows coordinator, In2cricket coordinator) to ensure we function at current levels. Juniors, wives and partners are a valued component of our club and have needs that could easily be met with a little coordination and assistance.
- We need to think about the need to develop a central home for the Knights to meet in and strengthen our identity/culture. Is this a club house or another strategy. The bigger we get the stronger we need our values and story reinforced to the new members to ensure we maintain the great club we have.
- Community links to strengthen. One way to combat the vandalism of our venues is to build strong ties with our local schools. In particular how can we connect with the new high school?
I am excited and passionate as ever about our club and it’s future. I look forward to journeying with you and the near 250 families that align themselves with the White Knights.
