WHI Opportunities and News
  • WHI Investigator Meeting – May 2-3, 2013in Seattle, WA. Registration begins March 25th. Check the website for meeting information ( ).
The joint program with the Nutrition/Energy Balance, Physical Activity/Body Composition, and Diabetes/Obesity SIGs will be presented at the meeting entitled,Stepping forward to enhanced impact: Novel and effective use of WHI nutrient, body composition, and physical activity data.
  • Feasibility Study funds – The RFA for WHI feasibility funding opportunities came out on April 11th. A copy of the RFA is attached with minutes and also on SharePoint. Proposals are due June 15th and announcement of awards will be in September 2013.

  • Follow-up from last month’s ideas were discussed for the examples proposed.Many thanks to the leads and all for inspiring discussions and write-ups:
  • Example #1: CVD and other major consequences of anti-diabetic medication use in aging women (Yunsheng Ma and Simin Liu)
  • Example #2: Diabetes Medications Use and Cancer Survivorship

  • Example #3: Glycemia-related progression of major cardiovascular endpoints

Possible paper proposal also - Lisa, Lesley and Yunsheng expressed interest in working with Brian on this.

Final edits to Lesley by April 25th and she will work on finalize what will be sent to Jacques. The final document will be sent to the group once submitted. / - Finalize examples and send to Jacques.
