R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, The 1994 Port Isabel High School Tarpons football team achieved outstanding success by completing the regular season undefeated and earning a spot in the University Interscholastic League Class 3A state playoffs; and

WHEREAS, After advancing through the early playoff rounds, this superb Tarpon team ended its season in a semifinal contest against eventual state champion Sealy High School and earned the respect of fans and opponents alike; and

WHEREAS, The season's outstanding achievements were the result of a total team effort and selfless contributions throughout the course of the year from members Wes Abbott, Victor Aguillon, Aaron Byrne, Oscar Del Abra, Roger Delgadillo, Ralph Delgado, Saul Dominguez, Edgardo Francois, Alex Galvan, Alex Garcia, Ricardo Garcia, David Garza, Noel Garza, Jimmy Gonzalez, Juan Hernandez, Mike Hinojosa, Kenny Martin, Mathew Martinez, Johnny Mireles, Raul Montalvo, Frank Niles, Jesus Ramirez, Hector Rodriguez, Joe Santos, Eddie Santos, Lupe Valdez, Gabe Villarreal, J. C. Zamora, Edward Hernandez, Andrew Lopez, Jose Mendoza, Zackary Reid, Victor Rosales, Ralph Vela, Gilbert Verduzco, Lalo Alamo, Eric Galvan, Frank Galvan, Roel Garza, Jason Martinez, Fred Mata, Jesus Molina, Jim Leo Ochoa, Roel Rosales, Rey Spencer, Albert Barbarena, Americo Delgado, Johnny Galvan, Gualberto Gonzalez, Ulysess Guevara, and David Zamora; and

WHEREAS, Inspiration and tireless leadership were the hallmark of head coach Tony Villarreal, and he was ably assisted in his efforts by Eliseo Villarreal, Richard Rodriguez, Orlando Garcia, Robert Holland, Jr., Jesse Villarreal, Victor Barrera, Keith Stifflemire, Gary Staley, Gabe Pena, Cain Rosignol, Andy Gonzalez, and Jesus Vasquez; and

WHEREAS, Other valuable offthefield support was provided by managers Perry Aby and Ruben Garza; and

WHEREAS, This exemplary group of young men and their coaches and staff have been a tremendous source of pride for the students and faculty at Port Isabel High School and their many supporters in the community, and their exceptional accomplishments have rightfully earned them special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate head coach Tony Villarreal and the Port Isabel High School Tarpons football team on their superb 1994 season and extend to them best wishes for continued success in the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared for the members of the team and coaching staff and that a copy be prepared for prominent display at Port Isabel High School as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
