Resolution

WHEREAS Dora Ivory has faithfully served the Adult Literacy Institute of Prairie State College in Chicago Heights as an educator and program administrator; and

WHEREAS in her capacity as an educator she was a motivating force for her students eliciting these comments from her students

Dilithia Cornelius – I have learn how to read a lot better and understanding what homonyms, synonyms and antonyms. I just want to thank Ms. Ivory for taking the time to teach me

Audrey Payton – Ms Ivory is very nice and she help you with everything you need help with.

Richard Bell – Ms. Ivory is a nice teach she knows how to take her time helping people in class.

Melissa Stwart – Ms. Ivory has Bad Days and Good Days But, Ms. Ivory is always fun and caring and very helpful to Her Student in the Classroom; and,

Whereas in her capacity as a program administrator her commitment to the Prairie State College was considered to be exemplary, as stated by Kim Kunce, Dean of Adult Education; and,

Whereas Dora Ivory’s commitment to adult education extended well beyond Prairie State College impacting both the New Readers for New Life organization, of which she was a staunch supporter and the Literacy Volunteers of Illinois whose Executive Director often called upon her for assistance on a variety of endeavors, many related to conference planning; and,

Whereas numerous of Dora Ivory’s professional colleagues had suggested that we call attention to her long and fruitful career and bestow upon her their thanks and appreciation for the many contributions she made in advancing adult literacy as a cause; and,

WHEREAS it is with a hint of sadness that we learn that after a 29-year run in adult education Dora Ivory will be retiring from her position at Prairie State College but happiness for her in relieving herself of the day to day grind of full-time employment, knowing also that she is just a phone call away;

BE IT RESOLVED that we the Literacy Volunteers of Illinois, the UIC Center for Literacy and all assembled here at the 25TH Annual On the road to Literacy Conference wish Dora Ivory great success with all that lies in from of her and extend ourfor all he has done for adult literacy students and the New Readers organizations in Illinois.
